Are these Baby Bananas?[edit]

is this the variety marketed in us as "baby" bananas?

In western countries that don't produce bananas, cultivars are rarely if ever named at the point of sale, so it's impossible to give a definitive answer, but it's unlikely, since "baby bananas" in my experience don't vary much (if at all) in taste from larger ones, so I think they are all close relatives of Cavendish bananas. Exporters/markets/supermarkets in many occasions have the right to name the product as they wish. Dole, an exporter from Ecuador calls them "Baby Bananas"; Chiquita, another Ecuadorian exporter named them "Minis"; and, Imporfrut, a Chilean importer, commercialize them as both "Baby Bananas" and "Oritos". "Orito" is the term used by Ecuadorians to refer to this fruit.

I left complementary information at the Lady Finger banana talk page.
