Appropriateness of redirect?[edit]

Looking at the links that are to this page, they are to the animal the lion or representations of it. It doesn't seem appropriate to link to a disambiguation page, and then a requirement to shift all the links to Lion. I propose that the redirect be rolled back to Lion -- billinghurst (talk) 04:02, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I guess. Beetles does redirect to Beetle, and Cats takes you to Cat. I'm sure we should do the same here, but I don't quite understand why you took off the surname cat. Think it may be better off in a redirect, like Lions (surname). What are your thoughts? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 04:24, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I had been about to add {{surname}} templates of Lion and Lions to the [[Lion (disambiguation) and do a redirect, then I hesitated and did the Talk page. Then I thought to redo the cats, then thought we can discuss and resolve.
If we point Lions to Lion, then probably should there be created Lions (disambiguation) to point to Lion (disambiguation). Could add the surname cat to there. -- billinghurst (talk) 12:02, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, WP:DABNAME suggests that we keep to one disambiguation page rather than have similarly-titled pages exist. That's why most dab redirects are tagged with {{db-disambig}}. No, our best bet would be to have Lions (surname) targeting Lion (disambiguation), with the surname cat on that redirect of course. Something like this has been discussed at Talk:Zippe. You might want to look at that. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 03:31, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Created Lion (name) as the use is personal and surname. Added {{surname}} and {{given name}}. Leaving this discussion open for other comments. -- billinghurst (talk) 04:52, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
