English voice actors for the druggies

There's no mistaking Richard Ian Cox as Shani Andras, even though the end credits on the dvds only credited him for playing Tolle Koenig. But even though the dvd and the website CrystalAcids.com credited Andrew Toth as Clotho Buer, I very pig-headedly refused to believe it because the AnimeNewsNetwork credited Andrew played Orga Sabnak and Ted Cole played Clotho and then that is what I impulsively submitted to the Internet Movie Database. Well, it turns out that that was wrong. Andrew Toth did indeed play Clotho as was said in the end credits of the DVDs. As for Orga, he was voiced by Matt Smith, who also played Jackie Tonomura, but only received credit for that role in the end credits just as Richard Ian Cox only received credit for playing Tolle. Bandai did not make it clear that Matt played Orga until they showed the end credits of Phase-20 Volume 5 of Gundam Seed Destiny. Ted Cole played two other roles in Gundam Seed, Yuri Amalfi (Nicol's father) and Ray Yuki, the guy who kills Patrick Zala; he did not play any of the druggies. That being said, I've already made the changes to the personal pages for Clotho/Andrew and Orga/Matt and the English cast on the Gundam Seed page. And I am currently in the process of correcting my mistake on the Internet Movie Database as well.

Somebody keeps changing the English voice actors for Clotho and Orga. He/she keeps insisting that Matt Smith only played Jackie Tonomura, but if you listen closely to Orga in the English dub, you can tell its the same person. Yet this unregistered user keeps insisting that Andrew Toth played Orga and Ted Cole played Clotho, even though that is wrong. The end credits of Gundam SEED and Gundam SEED Destiny clearly name Andrew Toth as the voice of Clotho, despite what the Anime News Network says. The folks at the Ocean Group did not make it clear as to who voiced Orga until the end credits of Gundam SEED Destiny - PHASE-28. Ted Cole only played Yuri Amalfi (Nicol's father) and Ray Yuki, the guy who kills Patrick Zala. He did not play any of the druggies. Shaneymike 14:41, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

WTF did someone delete like 90% of the pages for Cosmic Era mobile weapons

What the hell is your problem? The grunt units - GINNS, DINNS, etc. - I can understand, but why the hell did you delete all of the important ones like Abyss, Aegis, Akatsuki, Blitz, Buster, Calamity, Chaos, Destiny, Destroy, Duel, Forbidden, Gaia, Impulse, Legend, Providence, and Raider? Why the hell did you delete all of those pages and only leave a select few like the Strike, Freedom, and Justice? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Shaneymike (talkcontribs) 14:29, 8 December 2006 (UTC).

I did not personally delete them, but the deletion is per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/CAT1-X Hyperion Gundam series. I know it is extremely hard to read, but pages without sourced real world impact are violating WP:FICT policies and a consensus is to merge them into a big list. The people at WP:CE are currently working their best on creating the lists and it would be nice if you can help in creating them. Only the units Skygrasper, Strike and Freedom have enough sourced impact (and I fought for a week on why they have impact) to recieve their own pages. MythSearchertalk 14:41, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
So how do you propose to build all the articles again.Sam ov the blue sand 23:03, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, Mythsearcher. How do you propose to build all the articles again? Shaneymike 15:18, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
We won't plan to build all of them again, at least not soon. Now we're working hard to improve remain articles, not limit to CE, so they won't got delete so easily. Mythsearcher-san work hard and even fight harder than me in the AfD nom, he deserve none of your rudeness. Instead of attack other, you two better get to work. Rebuild those article if you want to, just make sure it won't cantain very same flaw that got them deleted in first place. L-Zwei 15:42, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
If you read the actual deletion debate, I have already stated how they should be. Now we use the list, and someone should redirect all the pages to the list. Some one is working on the list page, but the redirects need to be done by someone else. Go to WP:CE talk page for more information. I will not help in writing any lengthy material for CE, since the UC pages need more attention for now. MythSearchertalk 15:43, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
Hey here's an idea, how the hell do we get all of that info back I have no freakin clue as to where we got that info at.Sam ov the blue sand 19:43, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

RELAX, people. Read the whole story! All the information deleted are transwikied here: [1] They are just deleted from wikipedia...Ric 06:55, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

I went and did all (all the ones I saw anyway) the redirects yesterday, so now there's no more Red links for Gundam Models. They all send over to the main Mobile Suit page now. Offkorn 23:43, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

Representative Homura

Stop deleting information about Representative Homura on this page as well as the personal ones for Uzumi Nara Athha and Cagalli Yula Athha. Cuz it is revealed that he is indeed Uzumi's younger brother.

In Phase-27 of the anime, Cagalli reveals that her father resigned his position and bequeathed his duties to her uncle, Representative Homura, who simply does as he is told by Uzumi. The novelisation also says that Homura is Uzumi's younger brother.
Thanks for the info. It is mentioned in one sentence in Phase-27, though it's a lot clearer in the dub than the sub (which is what I'd seen). Homura is named in Phase-25, though him being nominally in charge is only obvious if you know Uzumi has resigned his position. Uzumi is also called 'former' represntative in Phase-29. Apologies to all, in trying to delete fanon, I deleted actual correct info. I reverted Cagalli's page to Shaneymike's version, I think the other pages have already beem reverted. If not, I'll fix my errors in the next day or so. Edward321 15:02, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Clean-Up

I went through and cleaned up the article, using "official" English names (Roanoke, Stella, etc.) I didn't change any of the article pages (Stella's page is still Stellar Loussier...) since I don't quite know how to do that yet.

Anyways, look through it, and if you see something strange, mention it here and I'll tell you where it came from. Things off the top of my head: According to DeaconBlues, who has either the Japanese or Chinese versions of the Astray mangas, Goud Veia's name is officialy romanized as Goud Vair, and Mare Stroud is actually Mare Strode. I deleted Erica Simmons entry in Orb, since we already have her in Terminal/Clyne Faction, and we didn't duplicate anyone elses. Added Mare Strode's Destiny Impule suit to his information, but didn't link it... I also took out the Miguel and Nicol fanlistings, since they seemed more like advertisements than any thing else. I was tempted to remove the blurb about Miguel's appearance in the Comics BONBON since I haven't seen any proof, but it is so widespreadly mentioned that I decided to leave it for the time being.

Like I said...anything else, just bring it up here and I'll find you a source. --208.104.224.37 10:34, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Categorizing

Although I like the Idea how the article is catgorized, the only complaint I have is that the character guide is lacking a way to identify which Gundam Seed Productions that characters have appeared in. Because many inexperienced readers would only get confused by it. This is because many of the articles such as the Uzumi Nara Athha doesn't fully identify that he only appeared in the Gundam SEED series.

Done, but...

... please fill-in the manga appeareances of regular cast (never seen the mangas) --IgorTrieste 09:30, 6 May 2005 (UTC)

  • Unforunatly I can't since I am mainly an expert with anime, which also includes knowledge on other Gundam series other than Gundam SEED so I can't help you there. Sorry.

Wikipedia naming standards

I was under the impression that a policy was decided a while back in regards to naming conventions of people/characters in foreign media, where the English name would be followed in parentheses by the original name (in hiragana, katakana, or kanji whichever it is usually written in) as well as a literal transliteration. Can someone confirm or deny? The vast majority of anime pages seem to follow this standard, and I will look into the details of the aforementioned policy myself, but if anyone knows offhand or a decision has been reached in regards to this article in the past to NOT follow this standard, let me know. Otherwise I will begin adding the Japanese names and transliterations soon.--Lord Shitzu 22:16, Jun 7, 2005 (UTC)

PLANT or ZAFT

Lacus Clyne is explicitly said to be not part of ZAFT (which is the military arm), but she is a citizen of PLANT (civillian government). However, maybe it's best to leave her as ZAFT for consistancy with the other characters.

  • ZAFT is not only the military, but also the political (and economical) organization that manages the PLANTs and its citizens. So the 'States' are the 12 groups of colonies (like Junius, Aprilius), and ZAFT is like a political entity that represents them all, like the Earth Alliance represents various (super)states on Earth. PLANT is a term that means the actual colonies themselves, as originally they were research centres with no political statute. The terms are really used interchangeably, but this version sounds the most plausible (and is the one stated on the Nations and Factions page).--IgorTrieste 08:54, 21 July 2005 (UTC)
I disagree that ZAFT is a political organization, in SEED, Lacus specifically states that she is not in ZAFT, and ZAFT is just the name of the military. Granted, she's not on the council either, but she can be considered a political figure considering the impact she has on the people, and her rebellion later in SEED. The council is a political entity governing the PLANTS, and they have control over ZAFT, but I don't think they should be classified as ZAFT either. PLANT and ZAFT are only used interchangeably in the series because it's easy and because Earth likely doesn't care about any such distinctions.--Lord Shitzu 15:00, August 11, 2005 (UTC)

Mayu Asuka's appearance on Gundam SEED Destiny

I think that Mayu Asuka's fate and whereabouts are unknown, even though she is dead and i expect someone to find her once the Three Ships Alliance reaches Orb before the end of the second war. However, she did not appear in Gundam SEED Destiny as her cellphone is all that remains of her, she only appeared in Shinn's past flashbacks from Gundam SEED. We should change her code from GSD to [GSD] (only appeared in [GS] flashbacks). Her cellphone's voice mail recording does not mean she makes an appearance in this Gundam SEED sequel series. --Ed Telerionus 21:31, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I rather doubt we'll see Mayu Asuka outside of flashbacks, since the last we saw was the bloody stump of her severed arm. She's dead, Jim. Okay, people have survived some crazy stuff in many Gundam series, including this one. But if she's alive, why would she never try to find her brother?
As for the codes, they denote where a character is seen, not when. We don't put [GS] on the Astray-only characters, even though Astray takes place mostly at the same time as SEED. So even though Mayu's only seen in flashbacks, she never actually appeared in SEED. Just in Destiny. 68.47.175.214 04:15, 11 July 2005 (UTC)
I don't see her in Gundam SEED Destiny because she was killed by Kira Yamato during the events of Gundam SEED. -- Ed Telerionus 06:45, 16 July 2005 (UTC)
The [GS], [GSA], and [GSD] tags don't denote when in the Cosmic Era timeline a character appears. It denotes which anime and/or manga the character appears in. Shinn and Captain Todaka don't get [GS] tags even though they show up in flashbacks to the Battle of Orb and its aftermath, because they were never shown on-screen in Gundam SEED. Only in Gundam SEED Destiny. The same is true of Mayu. 68.47.175.214 17:28, 18 July 2005 (UTC)
I agree with the comment above (btw, register so we can know your :). The tags are to know in which series the character appeared, so if you are following say the first series you can know where some info comes from. For example, if a character has a connection in the past with say Kira, and that character is marked as [GSD], it means that those facts were revealed in the second series, and not that you missed them. That was the whole point of marking them all. --IgorTrieste 09:00, 21 July 2005 (UTC)

Oversized entries

It seems to me that the entries on this article for characters like Kira, Athrun, and Shinn are unnecessarily large. Given that they have their own separate articles, it seems to me that we don't really need to have more than basic information on them in this article. People who want more in-depth info can just click the links, after all. 68.47.175.214 04:15, 11 July 2005 (UTC)

I agree completely. I will trim them down when I can spare some time. --IgorTrieste 09:02, 21 July 2005 (UTC)

Olor Koudenberg (Surname)

What information was used as basis for this? Thanks.

Olor Koudenberg's last name was given in the game "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED: Never Ending Tomorrow"

There are no newtypes in the CE timeline

There are no newtypes in the CE timeline, it is officially annouced by Sunrise. Sunrise and Bandai adorpted a new term Spacial Awareness ability (空間認識能力). It is still used in the Sept. 2005 Newtype magazine Seed-Destiny data file in page 12 stating Mu's Spacial awareness ability is not necessary on the new generation dragoons due to the new improved quantum interface. (量子インターフェースを改良した新世代のドラグーンシステムを装備し、ムウのような空間認識能力がなくともドラグーンを使用できる。) The term Newtype was never used in any of the data files, any of the model manuals, or any part of the official website in both Japanese and English. I have read them all just because of this little matter about fandom on wiki's CE page. I hate proving something does not exist and it really should be the ones who claim it existed should be finding the sources themselves. Whoever wanted to add in the term newtype, get an official source and show proof(In English or Japanese, if it is in any language, there must be an official Japanese source.) just scan it, if you do not have a scanner, give the ISBN of the book or the URL link to the Official web site. Otherwise it is just Original research and should not be put into a wiki article. I have my own sources to find and read the books and accept it as an official source if it does exist, bluffing will not get your way to add fandom into a wiki article. And by the way, I am NOT a SEED nor SEED-D fan, thus I do not wish to keep tracking if the article was maintain in good fandom-free state. However, when I ever see the term appear again in any of these CE articles without a source, I WILL view it as original research and revert them for wiki's sake, any re-reverts will be viewed as vandalism and be reported. If you have any questions about the official settings, ask. As long as it is related to technology, I can answer with well proven source. MythSearcher 18:49, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

We've had people claim things were in magazines that were total fabrications or inaccurate rumors before. Mitsuo Fukuda has explicitly referred to Mu as a Newtype in interviews, and statements by the director of the series hold greater weight than some Wikipedia editor who merely claims to have a magazine article supporting his argument (an article that conveniently is unavaiable to most other editors). Not to mention, in the Astray manga series we've seen Prayer Reverie do such things as communicate telepathically with other character and even continue to appear as a spirit after his death. I don't see how "spatial awareness" can possibly cover that. 71.203.209.0 22:40, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
Show your proof, if you said he said it in an interview, get the interview article. If you want my proof, [2] go to page 8, you can find a link to MS GUNDAM SEED DESTIINY on img075.jpg, the sentence I have quoted is exactly as above. On the same page, just right to that link, the link MOBILE SUIT FILE(publisher: Kondasha), 32.jpg, it says Developed at the same time as Justice and Freedom, Mobile built for Anti-MS combat equiped with DRAGOON(Disconnected Rapid Armament Group Overlook Operation Network) System. It is a very special equipment and cannot be used if the pilot do not have a very high spacial awareness. For back up link of the files, I have the following 1 2How spacial awareness can cover it is not my problem, wiki is not a place for original research, the fact is no official sources talked about their telepathy, not even the original series said anything about it. Yes, rumours has been spread that he said a lot of things, can your proof, find the interview article from a reliable source. Also, what the company always has more weight than the mere director. MythSearcher 02:49, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
You're making assumptions without basis. That is, that references to "spatial awareness" mean Newtypes don't exist, when the article actually makes no mention of Newtypes one way or the other. As for Fukuda's interview, here at Gunota Headlines:
"Q: Are Mwu and Raww Newtypes?
A: Both are the last remaining Newtypes. They were the last Newtypes in the world so I wanted to write a story where non-Newtype people try to solve the problem."
I think that's pretty conclusive, and unlike your article there's no assumption involves. As far as telepathy, there's a specific scene on page 131 of X Astray volume 2 where Prayer Reverie sends a message directly to Morgan Chevalier's mind. Again, this isn't original research, and unlike your argument it's not speculation. It's directly from primary source material (as opposed to a secondary source like a magazine article). 71.203.209.0 22:21, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
A blog is NOT a reliable source, AND the translation of Gunota Headlines said source have one big mistake, the said paragraph missed the last sentence stating This was the original plan. which renders the whole paragraph useless. If it was the original plan, then obviously they have changed it, if not, it will not be called the original plan. See Talk:Cosmic Era human enhancements for more details, I have the links linking to both of the pages there, and you can see that the Gunota Headlines made a huge mistake. MythSearcher 08:10, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

"Gundam" Pilots

Whoever made this section, what were you thinking? Aside from the fact that it clutters the article and produces redundant entries...the fact that it's put under the Three Ship Alliance is ridiculous given that more than half the characters listed under it never had any affiliation with the TSA whatsoever. 71.203.209.0 22:44, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Yes, well maybe "Gundam" Pilots SHOULDN'T BE UNDER the TSA section, considering they're not the ONLY ones who pilot Gundams.

Really, I don't think we should have a "Gundam pilots" section at all. Just separating everybody by faction makes more sense. 71.203.209.0 22:22, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Update: Ok, so after this old argument, the "Gundam" pilots section was deleted, because like the 2 arguments above, the TSA are not the only ones who have gundam pilots, and that seperating them by section alone is enough. WHO Was the "genius" who decided to put it back? Think before you edit people! The TSA are not the only ones with gundams!

  • The section certainly needs work, but deleting it means you have deleted Cagalli, Mu, Kira, and Athrun from page. It seems odd not to list such prominent characters at all.

Minor characters

Aisha, Sato, and Colonel Todaka aren't important enough to be given full names; yet they have their own pages. Shouldn't they just be merged onto this page? Edward321 06:10, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

I think that's a good idea. --Squilibob 12:43, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
Okay, marked those three as suggested for deletion. Edward321 17:30, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
... You do not have to mark them as AfD, just be bold and merge them per WP:FICT#being bold. MythSearchertalk 10:01, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Voice actors

They're listed on the main Gundam Seed and Seed Destiny pages. They're listed on individual character pages. Do they really need to be listed here, too? This page is already rather long. Edward321 06:10, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Article size

Currently this article is 94 kb long. I propose we edit this article to a similar manner as Characters in Bleach, where characters who have their own articles will just have a internal link listed. If there are no objections, I will make the changes. Also, minor characters such as Kojiro Murdoch, Kuzzey Buskirk, Reverend Malchio, Sahib Ashman, and a few others should be merged into this article. --Silver Edge 03:31, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

The articles mentioned above have been merged in to this article, as per WP:FICT.--Silver Edge 13:27, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
That sounds like a good idea. Is there anything on this page that is missing from the individual pages? Edward321 04:53, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
The "codes" that specify which Gundam SEED productions each character has appeared in, is the only thing this list has that the individual character articles doesn't have. I have gone through the list descriptions for the characters who have their own individual article, and added the bits of information that I found was missing in the individual articles. --Silver Edge 14:52, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

With no objections to my proposed changes after fourteen days, I have gone ahead and made the changes. As per WP:BOLD --Silver Edge 16:48, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

Evidence 01

Hi.

There seems to be a bit of original research in the Evidence 01 section - the referral to the difficulties that terrestrial life forms would have living in Jupiter's atmosphere.

I was under the impression that 01 was discovered on or near Europa, where there is quite likely to be a large subterranean ocean buried under the surface ice (indeed, it seems that Ganymede and Callisto also have sub-surface oceans - as may the Saturnian moon of Enceladus).

Perhaps this is meant to be the implied home of the 'winged whales' - but if I were to post this, it would no more qualify as anything other than original research as the current reference to Jupiter's unsuitability as a homeworld for the Evidence 01 species. --Nerroth 05:20, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Character's infobox

Should the word "deceased" be used in a character's infobox for family members who have died before or during the series? Because isn't that a huge spoiler? (E.g. Rau Le Creuset and Rey Za Burrel in Mu La Flaga's infobox.)

  1. Should we list a family member being deceased in a infobox if the family member dies before or during the series,
  2. or should we list a family member being deceased only if the family member dies before the series (e.g. Lenore in Athrun Zala's infobox),
  3. or should we not list the family members being deceased at all?

I myself would go for the third option. --Silver Edge 08:09, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

71.141.99.239's edits

This editor seems to insist on listing Athrun as a crew member of the Archangel based on him wearing an Orb Uniform. I do not understand this reasoning, if you're going to list him solely based on uniform, why not put him with the crew of the Kusanagi, like Cagalli?

To me it makes more sense to list Athrun as a crew member of the Eternal, the ship he actually travelled on and launched from. Edward321 05:40, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

I agree, I have moved Athrun back under "Crew of the Eternal" section. He should be listed there, because out of the three ships of the Three Ships Alliance, he spent the most time as an Eternal crew member. Wearing an Orb uniform does not make character a crew member of the Archangel. --Silver Edge 07:16, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

I'm very surprised to read your answer. I want to say how could you give us this non-sense and illogical response to deny your own mistakes. 1) Have two of you ever watched GSD TV episode 39 to 50 thoroughly? How many episodes did you see him staying on Archangel wearing Orb uniforms? 2) How many times did you see him in Eternal and what did he do there? 3) What's your solid proof about him being a crew of Eternal? And What's your proof about him not being a crew of Archangel? 4) Wasn't Archangel an official Orb's warship announced by Cagalli Athla in episode 45? At that time, where did Athrun stand and what was he wearing? 5) Where did you see him FIRST launching his new Infinite Justice? If your answer is Eternal, your whole report is entirely crap and you need to go back to re-watch all those episodes. 6) Last but not least, wasn't Athrun trying to be CIC to help out Archangel while it took off to rescue Orb? 71.141.118.184 01:20, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Yea, Saluting to Miss/Mr. 71.141.118.184 ^____^. You are right on the points^^. To Edward321 and Silver Edge, we watched the show too so please please please stop fooling around O_o! 68.121.14.132 09:08, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Merger proposal

I propose the articles Shani Andras, Clotho Buer, and Orga Sabnak be merged into Biological CPU [3], because the articles themselves are short and they all repeat the same information (about being one of the three "living CPUs" that are "assigned to operate the Earth Alliance's new mobile suits", needing drugs to stop withdrawal symptoms, and their personal data being erased from the military's records).

Each character article only has one short paragraph that describes the respective character (not including the "Trivia" sections). For example:

  • Shani Andras
While piloting his GAT-X252 Forbidden, the antisocial Shani prefers to fight alone without his teammates interfering, and between missions he puts on his headphones and blocks out the outside world by listening to music, preferably rock and techno. Shani was killed by Yzak Joule during the Second Battle of Jachin Due, when his GAT-X252 Forbidden was destroyed by Yzak's GAT-X102 Duel Gundam.
  • Clotho Buer
Gundam SEED: The talkative and quarrelsome Clotho is constantly arguing with his teammates, and he likes to shout out video game-inspired battle cries as he fights in his GAT-X370 Raider. Between missions he spends his time playing on a portable game system. Depending on the version of Gundam SEED seen, Clotho is killed during the Second Battle of Jachin Due either by Yzak Joule in the GAT-X102 Duel using the Buster's rifle (original Gundam SEED), or by Dearka Elsman in the GAT-X103 Buster (Gundam SEED: Special Edition).
Gundam SEED Destiny: When ZAFT forces captured the Extended laboratory at Lodonia, Athrun Zala discovered Clotho's record in the base's files, indicating he was kidnapped by Blue Cosmos at a young age.
  • Orga Sabnak
Although he is effectively the leader of the trio, Orga's tactics are reckless and aggressive, and unlike others in his trio, he tends to provide help for his teammates in battle, although he often comes close to hitting his teammates with the heavy armament of his mobile suit, the GAT-X131 Calamity. Between missions, he usually passes the time reading paperback novels. Unlike Clotho and Shani, who were killed by Yzak Joule, Orga was killed during the Second Battle of Jachin Due by Three Ships Alliance pilot Athrun Zala in the ZGMF-X09A Justice.

Page for Matias Adukurf?

Shouldn't there be a page for Matias Adukurf? Some of the other Astray characters have pages, why not him? I would do it myself, if I had all the necessary information. But the fact that they didn't include him in the anime is one of the biggest problems I had with Gundam SEED Destiny. He was important. They should have focused more on him instead of that whole stupid thing with Lacus and Meer. Shaneymike 14:04, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

I think Not!

The characters said From Gundam Seed If Wikipedia moves It to another article it will be moved away from it's Own Origin.I think nobody Should Move The Characters From There Origin.Because it wil destroy the character list.If they vanished or removed the character list will fall apart. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mimi606 (talkcontribs) 07:20, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Fall Apart Of The Character List!

I Feel If Wikipedia Moves Characters Away From Its List It Will Just FAll Apart Other Members Even Fans Would Not Allow That TO happen. The List Will Fall Apart Think Of What The other people Wants TO find There Profiles They Dont Find It.Wikipedia Will Fally APart Because of it.If the profiles are moved less number of people will visit this website even the website will fall apart! So please Wikipedia Dot Move The Profiles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mimi606 (talkcontribs) 06:45, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Ep20-2.jpg

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Characters of GSEED Frame Astray?

Should we update this page to include info on them? Ominae (talk) 08:08, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

This list already contains information on manga-only characters, so Gundam SEED Frame Astray characters can also be included. I don't know any of the Frame Astray characters, as I haven't read the manga. --Silver Edge (talk) 02:30, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Cleanup

The character listing is fairly long, winding, and confusing for an article. I'll be basically doing an entire revamp first by moving the characters to their respective articles (mainly the the manga characters). While they do fall under the universe of SEED, this article I believe should be dedicated to just the respective SEED and Destiny characters. That would cut down majorly on the size. The manga characters can fit well in their respective home articles which are fairly stub sized and would welcome the information. Fox816 (talk) 00:26, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

The character lists have been separated for the most with the SEED and Destiny remaining while Astray and Destiny Astray moved into their respective list. In terms of organization of the remaining list I think sticking to allegiance is best instead of alternatives such as (Natural / Coordinators) or (Earth / PLANTs) which would cause confusion. One problem that I'm encountering is some repetitive listings of characters for allegiance. To counter this leads for each section would be best suited. As well, I'm not sure if using the GS/GSD tags would be good also. Destiny is the sequel and a number of characters are recurring. The major characters have their own articles so drawing out which one appears in Destiny shouldn't be too much of a hassle. Fox816 (talk) 04:23, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Perhaps the characters should be listed by original/first allegiance instead of every allegiance they were affiliated with? The "Three Ships Alliance" section can then be removed, since it is made up of characters from other allegiances, and there are a few Destiny-only characters listed there, even though the Three Ships Alliance only existed during SEED. The GS/GSD tags can be removed from the characters who have their articles, but leaving the tags for the characters without their own articles would help clarify if they were in SEED, Destiny, or both. --Silver Edge (talk) 04:44, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
That could work also. That way we won't have Crews listed twice. Also character rewrites would also help clarify things. Fox816 (talk)

Organization

(I'm bringing this discussion here off of our respective talk pages. Edward321 (talk) 13:49, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

Hello. On the Gundam Seed Character list, they are not supposed to be alphabetized. Also the protagonist and antagonist are suppose to be set in the order they appear in. DragonZero (talk) 05:22, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

I would have preferred more discussion rather than you mass reverting my edits which were minor compared to the changes you made to the article. Listing the protagonists and antagonists by order of appearance makes sense; so I have copied your rationale and reasons on the appropriate talk page.

Hello, I disagree with your organization on the other characters as they should not be associated with the Earth Alliance or ZAFT. Also Kira's friends are not technically part of the Earth Alliance, and they just wish to tag along the Archangel to help find peace. I will undo the edit. My apologies. DragonZero (talk) 05:49, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

Why do you think the various characters should not be associated with the Earth Alliance or Zaft? After all, they are members of those organizations and it helps explain that the various ships and crews are not independant entities responsible to no one. And Kira and his friends were not just technically part of the Earth Alliance - them enlisting is a major plot point that saves most of their lives. Edward321 (talk) 13:49, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Agree, in general characters should not be grouped by entities as it is an in-universe grouping. Edward321, List of Naruto characters is a featured character list (and the only one in the anime/manga project). Note that it does not use any in-universe groupings. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 15:27, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Your interpretation is incorrect - Team 8, Team 10, Team Guy, Hokage, and Sand Siblings are clearly in-universe groupings on List of Naruto characters. Kira's Friends, Archangel, Eternal, ORB, Le Creuset team, and Minerva are in-universe groupings in DragonZero's version on this page. He and I are merely disagreeing over the best way to organize these in-universe grouping. Edward321 (talk) 14:32, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
Well I believe ZAFT and Earth Alliance don't need to be pointed out but can be placed under the description of the organization. For example under Le creuset team could have the description "A ZAFT team led by Le Creuset". Talking about Earth alliance and ZAFT, you'd be splitting other characters into three sections, Earth Alliance, PLANT/ZAFT, and Others. That would be like Naruto dividing their groups by Genin, Jounin or something along those lines. I may be wrong though. DragonZero (talk) 21:32, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
Genin, Jounin, etc. would be like dividing up the characters by ranks. ZAFT, the Earth Alliance, and the Orb Union are all governments and if the Orb Union is important enough of a government to split it out from the category Others, then why don't you think the Earth Alliance and ZAFT are? Edward321 (talk) 01:29, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

A further question I have about DragonZero's reverts - why were several characters returned to the Others section when they are citizens of Orb? Edward321 (talk) 14:32, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

I didn't revert anything involving the relocation of characters of ORB. Also, I don't see any characters in the Others section that are part of ORB. DragonZero (talk) 21:27, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
Yes you did, in this edit. [4] To spell it our specifically, Mayu Asuka, Caridad Yamato and Haruma Yamato are citizens of Orb. Edward321 (talk) 01:22, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
|:I never knew Kira's adoptive parents were part of ORB. Anyways, you can do whatever you like to the article then. I'll take it off my list. DragonZero (talk) 03:17, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
I am not trying to discourage you from editing the list, merely trying to discuss those edits. I'm a bit puzzled by your phrasing 'part of ORB'. They are citizens of the country of Orb, so that phrasing is like saying Barak Obama is part of the US. Edward321 (talk) 19:25, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

I like the way it's set up now, with the chars split into protagonists, antagonists, and so forth. Jtrainor (talk) 07:18, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

I actually think the older method was better, you get less Character name and then Main article. It's also easier to understand the character's context. With the old method, it's also easier to tell, which character are from SEED and which are from Destiny. Also, it's debatable whether characters like Yuna Roma Seiran were actually antagonists (He seems to be more misguided than actually being "bad") and Shinn Asuka cannot really be considered a protagonist for the second half of Destiny. - plau (talk) 15:48, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
If you feel that way, write a sentence on the character articles. DragonZero (talk) 21:20, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
I suppose that most people cannot really accept most of the things that happened in Destiny, with the possible ending of Cagalli and Athrun or possible begging of Meyrin and Athrun, Kira's position in ZAFT, Lacus's role in the PLANTs, or whether Shinn was really the protagonist of GSD which I personally believe he was. Anyway this all because the creator of GSD never gave us any official sources if not any leaving us in a state of confusion, with multiple questions and viewpoints, and information that has basically been created from are viewpoints.

So lets not merge the SEED characters of we already did it with the 00 and Wing characters. --0Neosis (talk) 20:55, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

Cleanup 2

Every character should be merged except for the protagonists as the other characters have no importance outside of "in universe" DragonZero (talk) 02:35, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

Merged to where? And what are your criteria for considering a character to be a protagonist? Edward321 (talk) 23:56, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Merged to this article, and the characters that I suppose meet the protagonist requirements were chosen because the plot revolves around them. I just based it on the Naruto article and tried to get close to it. DragonZero (talk) 00:11, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Gotcha. I've mentioned your changes on the Gundam and the Anime and Manga Wikiprojects to get more feedback. Now, your model makes more sense. OTOH, without sourcing from the creators or a reliable independant source, how does one avoid be accused of original reseach in which characters are considered protagonist? And there are other ways to organize the article, such as the version used in Star Trek. Edward321 (talk) 00:41, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Agreed, just as with the other Mobile lists, none are notable and should be merged. Might also be good to pop a note in the project to ensure enough discussion. :) -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 00:29, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Several characters not listed as protagonists here have far more impact than Janice Rand or Reginald Barclay, both of whom have their own articles. Edward321 (talk) 00:47, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Impact within the series is not the criteria for having their own articles, its notability. Do the characters have significant coverage in reliable, third-party sources and can appropriate creation/conception and reception sections be created for those characters? If so, list individual and demonstrate this notability. Also, remember that WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is not an appropriate argument in any merge/deletion discussion (as a side note, personally, I'd say both of those ST character articles should also be merged to the appropriate lists). -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 00:57, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
I agree. All of these characters should be merged with the List. Shaneymike (talk) 20:34, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
(Outdenting) Shaneymike has posted merger suggestions on all of the character articles. At the least, as Dragonzero suggests, the main characters are notable enough for their own articles. There is also the concern that merging all the characters will make the main article longer than recommended. I understand that different language versions of Wikipedia have different standards of notability, but the Japanese Wikpedia feels all of the characters suggested for merger are notable enough to have thier own articles. [5] Edward321 (talk) 23:16, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
It doesn't matter what the Japanese Wikipedia editors feel are notable. It is what characters have received significant coverage by reliable third-party sources. --Farix (Talk) 00:34, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
Plus these articles are WAY too plot summary. Shaneymike (talk) 14:51, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
I'll agree that some of the articles of Gundam SEED and Gundam SEED Destiny are slightly long but an entire merge is unnecessary. I suggest that that articles be locked from editing for a brief period of time, then allow a professional user should edit and change the articles summary, I recommend User:Edward321. --0Neosis (talk) 20:27, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

These characters are just as notable as any other character page on this site. Across Wikipedia there are litrally hundreds of specific character articles from games to cartoons to live action series If all character pages should merged into this page, then the same should be said for all similair pages across wikipedia.Either there are characters that are worth having thier own pages, or there are none (beacuse at the end of the day, they're just made up and not real). It's as simple as that. Dearing (talk) 11:27, 27 November 2009 (UTC)}

Read. Wikipedia:Notability. Its the policy (Rules). Wikipedia is not a fansite, you want me to give you a link to policies on that too? DragonZero (talk · contribs) 23:20, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

I am aware of wikipedia's notability regulations and I still stand by what I've said before. What makes characters like Seeley Booth from Bones any more notable then characters like Kira Yamato from Gundam Seed? Either characters are noteworthy or thier not. If you merge this page, then you should merge all of them. Dearing (talk) 10:25, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Oh I see you were referring to the main characters. Well the main characters should have enough notability on their own so there's not a chance they will be merged. DragonZero (talk · contribs) 18:41, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Separate List for Destiny

I think this list would look a lot better if we remove all the characters that are introduced in Destiny and create a separate List of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny characters. Just like we did with all the Gundam shows that took place during the Universal Century. What do you think? Shaneymike (talk) 15:01, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

I went ahead and started a separate list of characters for Destiny. It needs work, I know. Feel free to clean it up as needed. I'll work on it some more when I get a chance. Thanks. Shaneymike (talk) 22:30, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
The list doesn't need to be separated as both share a mutual cast of characters and lack notability. The Destiny list is currently in an universe fashion still. DragonZero (talk · contribs) 23:11, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
If you say so but I still think all the character articles need to be merged with this list as was done with all the Gundam Wing and Gundam 00 character articles were with their respective lists. Shaneymike (talk) 15:11, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
Well yeah most of them, I'll get to it once my semester ends okay? DragonZero (talk · contribs) 22:47, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
Including Kira, Athrun, Lacus, and Cagalli. Shaneymike (talk) 14:53, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

If we are going to keep all Cosmic Era charactes on the same list, I strongly recommend that it be formatted in a similar fashion to Gundam 00. Shaneymike (talk) 18:25, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

Acutally the Gundam 00's format is a bit in-universe. It should follow List of Naruto characters. DragonZero (talk · contribs) 18:57, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

Links to character's personal pages

I't OK to have individual pages for the main characters, as long as they exist. Why, why, put the names in double braces, if their page is blank and redirects HERE?!? If you want to detail someone's page, please do so, but put some text into it! Linking to redirect pages makes no sense whatsoever.

For this reason I reverted back to my version, where the only active links are those actually working.

I'm actually looking forward to having detailed pages about the main characters of SEED Destiny, like Shinn and Talia Gladys. If you are interested in filling them up, I will gladly format them and include them in the proper categories. So far the info about them is scarce and can stay in this page.

Please, do not link to redirects.

UPDATE:

If you want to compile a page to a character which does not have one, follow the following steps:

  • do a search for the character name on the wikipedia
  • if the search finds nothing, just create the page
  • if the search jumps to this same page (Cosmic Era list of characters), this means there already is a redirect page:
  • on the top of this page, just under the title, there should be a small text saying "redirected from CharacterName"
  • just click on the name, you'll see the page which has only the #REDIRECT entry; this is the character's page
  • edit this page, removing the redirect code (the text you enter should be enough to be on a separate page, if you want to insert a few data, put them on the main page; do not enter data about other characters, battles, mobile suits or technologies, they belong to their respective pages)
  • after you finished editing, you can change the character name in this page to become a link (add the square brackets); DO SO ONLY IF THE PAGE EXISTS AND IS NO LONGER A REDIRECT

Response

  • Actually just so you would jbiw during my first test when i was using the sandbox on Shinn Asuka's name before I came up with the (Character Profile) Idea all it did was just redirect me back to this page I also checked the Alphabetical Index and Shinn Asuka's name showed up on my search and yes it was a redirect. I also did some more sandbox tests today with the Three Ships Alliance section and some of the entries only came with a non-link, but unforuanately it was only for some of the unimportant Characters. But by following your advice I just learned how to remove redirect codes and by trying out but not saving on the Dearka Elsman Character Data. Also I compliment you on following my suggestion about identifing which Gundam SEED series that the indivdual character appears in. I only did this in the first place to try to help deal with the redirect problem.

Missing characters

There are missing characters from the series in the section, can anyone add them in? 218.186.8.239 (talk) 08:46, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Merging main characters

Discuss here before merging the main characters. DragonZero (talk) 02:02, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

I disagree with merge.--0Neosis (talk) 20:32, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

I too disagree with the merge. Gundam SEED was an extremely popular anime and many of it's main characters became very prolific. As such, I feel that it would be best if we left the main character pages be so that one may have full access to all of a character's information. This is especially important because, although the SEED movie has been put on hiatus, in the event of its release, there is likely to be a large demand for individual character pages. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.79.243.147 (talk) 01:50, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

well if we have all the characters in one page, it would be easier to search all the information about them , so i agree with the merging --Hitman54 (talk) 03:41, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

There is some information that needs more than one page.--164.106.22.202 (talk) 16:55, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

Okay you know what, do not post here unless your wanting to merge the main characters. This post is meant to stop those who want to merge the main characters, the ones which establish notability. If you want to say something irreverent, make another section. DragonZero (talk · contribs) 22:03, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
I've just looked over the main character articles and they show almost no or very little coverage by reliable third-party sources. The articles' should be trimmed and merged into the main article for lacking notability. —Farix (t | c) 12:35, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
I'm certain Kira and Athrun have notability somewhere. Someone just has to add on to it DragonZero (talk · contribs) 22:12, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

Eventually if one of this articles are merged then all of them will be merged so this merge cannot happen if it does then it could cause a lot of problems in the future please drop the merge proposal DragonZero.--0Neosis (talk) 21:36, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

No, all characters excluding the protagonists lack notability. DragonZero (talk · contribs) 22:51, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

I support the merging of all character articles to the List. Shaneymike (talk) 18:23, 13 January 2010 (UTC) 18:22, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

Not just the Astray characters but all of them, including Kira and Athrun. Though I must admit part of the reason for my motivation is that I like Gundam 00 better and all the character articles for that show were merged with their list. Still if all of these character articles lack notability as others say they do, then yes these articles should be merged. And besides Gundam already has its own separte Wiki site: Gundam Wiki Shaneymike (talk) 18:35, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
And to my knowledge all character articles from every other Gundam show have been merged to their respective lists. So for the life of me I cannot fathom why it's taking so long to resolve this issue. Shaneymike (talk) 00:35, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

I went ahead and merged Tolle Koenig to the List. Shaneymike (talk) 16:17, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

Judging the main characters pages, Cagalli currently lack notability so you can go ahead and merge her. Athrun has notability and could be found in the same sources as Kira's notability so those will not be merged. DragonZero (talk · contribs) 23:28, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
I disagree with merging of characters, and I disagree with what dragonZero said about lack of cagali lacking notability too. I think she played an important role in affecting Athrun's decision making during the destiny series. As for merging all characters into one single list, I don't think that's a very good thing to do if the sole purpose of that is convenience. Since everyone's disagreed to "lack of nobility" of the main characters, especially for Kira and Athrun (with valid reasons stated i believe), "lack of notability" should no longer be a topic of debate and therefore should not stand as a creditable reason for merging. I think putting the links to the pages of the main characters into the list of all characters is good enough for accessibility.(Tunawonder (talk) 14:54, 16 April 2010 (UTC))
Read Wikipedia:Notability. Not a democracy, Cagali has no notability. So far on the internet, only Kira, Athrun, and Lacus receive the most notability to real life. DragonZero (talk · contribs) 21:08, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

I oppose the merging of the main characters because they have shown much interactions and expansion throughout the series and as such it is unnecessary. However the ones that have less interaction will have to be merged, like Patrick Zala for example. Ones with more character detail and expansion will not be merged, while ones with less character detail and expansion will. SilentmanX (talk) 21:16, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

Yes, the thing you said has been decided on since April 2010. DragonZero (talk · contribs) 03:44, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
