Indrani Basu Roy[edit]

Received her doctorate in anthropology at the University of Calcutta. Wrote several books and many scholarly articles on the topic. Including the text book titled Anthropology: The Study of Man which has been reprinted many times over the past two decades. Is she related by marriage to Sarat Chandra Roy of the University of Calcutta?

Untitled[edit]

I was a little confused as I edited the page yesterday. Some of the names appear to be too ancient to be part of alumni of Calcutta Universiy. For example, were Madhusudan Dutta and Bankim Chattopadhyay really alumni of the univeristy? They have to be the earliest in that case ... can anyone shed light on this? Alumni v. faculty[edit]

I've made a v. small start in populating Category:University of Calcutta alumni - it only had 1 person! - while this article and the parent at Calcutta University are still vague about the difference between faculty v. alumni. Oh, this list seems poorly sourced and may be unreliable. --Mereda 09:51, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mamata Banerjee[edit]

Is she a Graduate? Which College? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Baarud 7.24,19 November(UTC) (talkcontribs) 08:26, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Faculty - An omission[edit]

Stella Kramrisch deserves listing in this article. The Wiki article on her says that after a two year stint at Santiniketan she was a professor at Calcutta Univ in 1924-1950 - a longer tenure than any teachers that are named in the faculty section. She was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1982 while a professor emeritus at Univ. of Pennsylvania. She is the author of several seminal books on The Art of India. 98.115.109.82 (talk) 23:39, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
