Ludlow, Colorado[edit]

I'm inquiring whether Ludlow, Colorado fits the criteria for this list. The entry says,

  • Ludlow, Colorado, was dominated by Colorado Fuel and Iron

My understanding is that Ludlow, Colorado, was not a company town, and not a mining camp. It was a key railroad junction near several mining camps which may have had company towns. It was the site of a massacre of union families during the 1913-14 strike, and was certainly dominated by CF&I. But in the strictest sense, i'm not sure it was a company town.

Ludlow currently has just a couple of ghost town buildings remaining. The 4th and 5th photos on this page are from my last visit to the ghost town remains, about five years ago:

Empire, Nevada[edit]

I could be missing things, but it appears that Empire, NV is the only town in bold type on the list. This would imply that it is the only listed town that is still considered a company town - something I found doubtful, considering Lake Buena Vista et al. Bold entries, if any.[edit]

There are still company towns in the United States, or, at least, towns generally considered to be company towns here in the United States. Yet a cursory glance through the towns listed reveals none of them to be currently considered company towns. As such, unless someone decides to bold the entries considered company towns, I'm not sure if the lead of "Towns listed in bold are still considered company towns today; other entries are former company towns." is still applicable or useful.
