Inclusion of Jesus[edit]

Introduction of the article says it's about people claiming to be the reincarnation of Jesus, so historical and/or biblical Jesus would not be included. Mateussf (talk) 00:06, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I believe it is obvious to every reader that Jesus of Nazareth claimed to be Jesus. We generally avoid stating the obvious in the encyclopedia unless there is a very good reason to do so, and the current structure and scope that omits an entry for Jesus of Nazareth (but which links to the article about him in the lead of the article) does not do so. Division by century[edit]

What explains the division by centuries the way it currently is? There's a person born in 1964 in the 20th century section and a person born in 1950 in the 21st century section. I suggest sorting by birth year. Mateussf (talk) 00:05, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Mahdi[edit]

@Fakescientist8000: As belonging a minority group often attacked by both Sunni and Shia, Wemnisent is not in the best position to issue threats. But it is also true that neither Sunni nor Shia conflate between Jesus and Mahdi, well, unless they do it on purpose, in order to discredit somebody as an ignorant. tgeorgescu (talk) 01:32, 8 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Mother Ann Lee[edit]

The source used does not actually state that she was the reincarnation of Christ - she 'represented' the 2nd Coming but was not actually Christ. Even language such as 'female component', which is vague and not very truthful, is not a proof of Mother Ann as Christ. Lol, I'm seeing now that the article states 'who have been claimed, either by themselves or by their followers, to be...the Second Coming of Christ.' Though I think that rather lessens this article's usefulness, Ann Lee is still misrepresented as an actual INCARNATION of Christ rather than just a prophet of His Second Coming. 150.108.238.161 (talk) 16:27, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This article is not about people who are actually Jesus. None of the sources for any of the items states that the subject is the actual reincarnation of Christ. That would be a personal opinion, which would make the source unreliable. There is nothing misleading about including her. Followers claimed that she was Christ, and that is properly sourced. Providence[edit]

A number of former members from Jung's church have publicly stated that he claims to be the modern incarnation of Jesus in the modern age. In the Providence Wikipedia page, citation 24, a Korean information network has publicized these claims, as well as the claims being publicized in the new Netflix documentary In The Name of God: A Holy Betrayal. I believed that this would qualify him to be added to the list Whatnamesareleftnow (talk) 16:24, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Whatnamesareleftnow: A couple of points. The sources must unequivocally indicate that he claims to be Jesus, not what others claim. Carefully read WP:BLP. Second point: Citations to sources belong in the article that you are editing, not another article or a talk page. Read WP:V, WP:RS, and WP:BURDEN. Removed David Koresh[edit]

In the spirit of Be Bold I deleted the section on David Koresh. He positively did not claim to be Jesus and therefore doesn't belong on this list. He claimed to be the seventh seal and the "sinful messiah", two other characters that he identified in the Bible, whose coming he said would precede the coming of Jesus, but he explicitly disclaimed the idea that he was Jesus.
