Merger proposal[edit]

List of pest-regulating plants and List of repellent plants should merge. Clearly, both titles are trying to communicate the same idea.

I prefer “List of pest-regulating plants” better, so I think the merged content should live under that title. I prefer it over “List of repellent plants” because its meaning is explicit. “Repellent plants”, however, is unclear; what are the plants repelling? It’s easy to guess—but easier still to have a clear title in the first place.

Lists or Tables?[edit]

Both pages take different approaches to how they present their data. Personally, I prefer tables, but I could live with either tables or lists. I just want to be able to see it all on one page!

consistency issue[edit]

catnip in its dedicated wp article described (with 2 sources) as mosquito repellent. this list however says otherwise. would be nice to work out a consensus. 89.134.199.32 (talk) 21:52, 5 February 2020 (UTC).[reply]

Very focused on America[edit]

As I posted in the talkpage of the article in Spanish, practically all the pests you talk about are typical of the American continent (Anasa tristis, Trichoplusia ni, Epilachna varivestis, Helicoverpa zea, etc.), the article should be globalized. FRINGE and unreliable sources[edit]

Most of this article is old wives tales repeated ad infinitum over the internet. Treehugger.com? Companionplanting.net? Citation #3, used 29 times in the article, starts table #1 with the disclaimer "Certain plants are believed to repel insects." Another table starts out with "Listed below are a few of the plant combinations that gardeners have long recommended. None has been scientifically proven, but some do seem to make good common sense." The third table starts with "So far, there’s almost no scientific “proof” to back up most of these claims." There are a few other "opinion pieces" with nothing to back up their claims.
