I undid all of the additions made by new editors today. Please realize this is not the school's web page. It is an independent encyclopedia article. Additions of a promotional nature are not allowed ("highly motivated teachers" sourced to the school's staff page?). Material has to be relevant to the whole world over time (the school's current basketball ranking couldn't be more irrelevant). Except for the most mundane information (the address and the principal's name), all information must come from reliable published sources, completely independent of the school district. If this was a class project, I'd urge whatever teacher was responsible for it to learn how to edit Wikipedia prior to assigning the children in your charge an assignment doing it. Recent Edits 4-27-17[edit]

One editor appears to have issues with some recent edits and suggested they be discussed in the page's talk page. They are unsure whether certain team activities should be included undet the list of sports recorded in the sports section. I would like to point out that A) the editor has not as of yet backed up their belief in the sanctity of the term "sports" and B) the editor appears to have little knowledge about this specific school. If the editor would care to back up their firm beliefs or do some research of their own I would gladly hear about it on this talk page. Until then, I will reinsert the edits. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 18mckayz (talkcontribs) 23:49, 27 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

That is patently ridiculous. First per WP:BURDEN, it is up to you to prove your changes are appropriate, not for me to prove they are not. I'm not even saying the information doesn't belong in the article. But in whose world is quiz bowl a sport? I could see am argument for marching band, as that is a physical activity, but we list fine arts programs in their own sections here. Basically I find it hard to see this as anything more than trolling, but just to assume the required good faith, I'll be happy to give you the opportunity to provide reliable independent sources that describe quiz bowl or knowledge team or whatever it was and the two band programs as sports at this school. This is an encyclopedia article about the school, not the school's page on Wikipedia. Until you provide said sources it stays out. If you want the fact that the school has these programs, you are welcome to add them in the appropriate place as long as you can provide a source (a published source, not your personal knowledge). Academic teams belong in the academic section, arts programs belong in a section on arts. The school or its students have no more say in the content of this article than any other editor. Article content is decided by consensus which is informed by numerous policies and article specific guidelines. Again, just to assume good faith, I'll leave some links on your talk page that will explain what Wikipedia actually is. You obviously have no clue. BTW, new sections go at the bottom of the page and you are required to sign your postings by typing four tildes at the end. Thanks. John from Idegon (talk) 00:49, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
