Untitled[edit]

It wasn't clear to me even after seeing the film (French is not my native tongue)- is the title a pun on Edith Piaf's "La Vie En Rose"? -FZ 01:34, 23 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure. I think it's just a coincidence though. Since ma vie en rose translates to my life in pink. And since pink is steriotypically a female color it's talk about how the main character identifies as a female.Lyo 02:00, 23 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think this a coincidence at all, as the song is very well known in French-speaking countries. And only one character has been changed! La Vie en Rose is as a phrase in French which would be used as we would use "To view life through rose-tinted spectacles". Its a very well known phrase in France. It does directly translate as "Seeing Pink". thejetset1 (talk) 08:05, 16 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Gender of Ludovic[edit]

Since the fictional character of Ludovic is a child in the condition of being biologically male and legally male, we should refer to "him", not to "her" in the article. --217.203.185.195 (talk) 04:56, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, you should not, as the character plainly identifies as female. I don't think he's "plainly identifying" yet. He's maybe on the way to doing this and is on the way of finding it all out. In the film he is however still clearly portrayed as a boy, a boy finding out his true gender identity. Therefore referring to him with "she" would just be confusing for the reader of the article, especially if you have seen the film.

I'm clearly in favour of referring to a transperson with it's "chosen" gender, but I don't think that it is appropriate in this situation portayed in the film (yet). --188.104.139.25 (talk) 02:16, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that it's wrong to refer to Ludovic as "she". In the movie he's clearly a boy, although feminine and into drag, and there's no mention of him being transgender - though it's very possible, of course. Another agreement. The story is clearly about a boy and his gender issues along with others inability to cope with these ideas. There is no resolution in the film. 'He' does not become 'she'. Do not confuse the character for a real person. Further, this 'assigned male at birth' is confusing and imprecise. Then there is: "Christine "Chris" Delvigne, a female-to-male transgender boy"- this is all a very odd take on this story. Gender related stuff[edit]

Ludo is referred to as female in the first paragraph, but in the summary she's called a boy. Also, while she may be transgendered and not stated, Chris could just be a tomboy. You can't tell by the fact "she dresses in boyish clothing and wears her hair short". Macintosh Grapes (talk) 15:27, 14 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The "let's swap clothes" scene strongly suggests an unspoken kinship. However, it's still only implied.

The birthday party seems included in the storyline to demonstrate Chris's unease with the prescribed gender presentation, however Chris never states "I'm a boy" or that they're otherwise trans-identified.

This article starts out redirecting people interested in the film about Edith Piaf to La vie en rose, but the article on La vie en rose does not redirect people interested in the film about a transgender child to Ma vie en rose.
