attribution to Madhava[edit]

I feel like this article overstates what reliable secondary sources claim about attribution. Roy (1990) says:

It is not completely clear who the discoverer of these series was. In the Aryabhatiya-bhasya, a work on astronomy, Nilakantha attributes the series for sine to Madhava. This mathematician lived between the years 1340–1425. It is not known whether Madhava found the other series as well or whether they are somewhat later discoveries.

This article however makes it sound like there is no question Madhava discovered all of these series. It would be helpful to make these claims more precise and carefully indicate the level of certainty among current scholars. –jacobolus (t) 16:20, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

can scans of Gupta's papers be found online anywhere?[edit]

It seems like several of Gupta's papers from the 1970s were important in establishing this topic. But I can't find them online anywhere. Can anyone else find a scan? –jacobolus (t) 19:16, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
