Need to be added to comparison table[edit]

I have added it to the Email foot banner and to some categories that seem relevant but Mailpile should be added to Comparison_of_email_clients by someone more familiar than I am with the various bits needed there.KenWalker | Talk 22:03, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Is this software also a server? I had the impression that you install it on a linux/Windows/OSX machine in your house or something and it acts as a server with a webmail front-end. If so, does it need to be added to the Comparison of mail servers article? I notice one of the contributors to the project - @BrennanNovak: maybe you can clarify whether this is a client or a server or both, and possibly add it to the appropriate lists? 0x0077BE [talk/contrib] 23:02, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wired Profile[edit]

Apparently Wired did a profile of this at the beginning of the project. Here's a reference for it:

  • <ref name="Wired-20130826">{{cite web | url=http://www.wired.com/wiredenterprise/2013/08/mailpile/ | title=Open Sourcers Pitch Secure Email in Dark Age of PRISM | work=[[Wired (magazine)|Wired]] | date=August 26, 2013 | accessdate=March 8, 2014 | author=Finley, Klint}}</ref>

If someone wants to add some information to the article, there you go.0x0077BE [talk/contrib] 18:54, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A few things to do[edit]

Here are some things on the to-do list for this article:

  1. Expand the lead - it is currently way too short
  2. Include a description of how the software works - it's a bit unsual to be running a sort of local webmail server that is accessed through the browser, so that's something that could be detailed. A screenshot image is already available here, but I've commented it out in the article, since it currently doesn't fit neatly anywhere on the page. There are numerous articles on the beta release that go into details about the features, so it shouldn't be hard to get sources for claims about it. In addition to the ones already on the page, here is another one:
  • <ref name="ghacks-20140916">{{cite web|last1=Brinkmann|first1=Martin|title=Beta version of email service Mailpile is out|url=http://www.ghacks.net/2014/09/16/beta-version-of-email-service-mailpile-is-out/|website=[[Ghacks]]|date=16 September 2014|accessdate=29 September 2014}}</ref>

I can probably tackle these things at some point, but if anyone else wants to do it that's fine by me.0x0077BE [talk/contrib] 16:01, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
