Contradiction[edit]

Did the Milan replace the Sable, or did the Montego? Both articles claim their respective vehicle replaced the Sable. I'm leaning toward the Montego, as the Sable was never available with a 4-cylinder, while the Milan is and the Montego is not. --69.208.149.86 19:26, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Sable does not really have a direct sucsessor at this point. The milan is much smaller than the sable, and the montego is close in size, shares the duratec 30 with the sable so I agree that the montego is the new sable, but not really.

Actually, the Sable WAS available with a four cylinder. The Montego is decidedly bigger than the Sable, while the Milan is slightly smaller. I'm leaning towards Milan as the replacement, since the Montego seems to be more of a fullsize car, but, being a FWD V6, slotting below the Marquis. --Sable232 18:49, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Milan replaced the Sable. The Montego is an eventual replacement to the Grand Marquis--both are classified as full-size cars. The Sable and Milan are both classified as mid-size cars. They have nearly identican wheelbase and interior size. The classifications are based on wheelbase and interior volume. It has nothing to do with engine size (if a Lincoln town car had a four cylinder motor it would still be a full size car). The Milan replaced the sable[edit]

The milan replaced the sable for the 2006 model year. Since the fusion(milan's twin) replaced the taurus (sable's twin), then that means that the milan replaced the sable. The Ford Five Hundred did not replace the taurus and the montego did not replace the sable because they're not midside sedans.

The Montego replacced the sable[edit]

montego is same price range as sable

milan is cheaper. the milan replaces the mystique.

Look people: Car pricing, engine size, name, etc. have nothing to do with classification of a passenger vehicle. It's about wheelbase and interior volume. The Mystique hasn't even been built for seven years. The Montego is classified as a full size car. The Sable is classified as a midsize car. The Milan is classified as a midsize car. Milan Replaced Sable[edit]

The cars are judged in terms of their segment which is based on the size of the vehicle. The Milan replaced the Sable. The Montego is in the same class as the Grand Marquis.

According to Ford Motor Company[edit]

The Milan and Montego together effectively replace the Sable as the Five Hundred and Fusion together effecively replace the Taurus. Niether vehicle alone replaces just one of the models. The Focus was intended to be the replacement for the Contour as well as the Escort as it slots between the two in size.

Misleading[edit]

The cruise control and defroster mirrors are standard on ALL Milans, They don't even MAKE steering wheels that don't have a spot for the cruise and stereo controls. The other options don't require the Premiere, the Premiere is just a package that includes all the features at once. My non-Premiere is equipped with the 17" aluminum 14-spokes, leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather seats with cloth centers and power, 6-cd with Sirius, fog lights, etc... Factuality of Statement[edit]

"Contrary to popular belief, the only common parts shared by all 3 vehicles are the doors, all other sheet metal being proprietary to each car." What about the roof panels? It's definitely wrong the way it's written, because there are plenty of "parts" shared by the various models well beyond cosmetic sheetmetal. IFCAR (talk) 22:56, 9 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think then that's more misleading -- the way I read it, it was mentioning that of the exterior sheet metal, the doors are the only shared component. Plenty of shared interior components, but exterior sheet metal varies. Fuel Economy numbers[edit]

From the fuel economy table:

22 mpg-US (11 L/100 km; 26 mpg-imp) 31 mpg-US (7.6 L/100 km; 37 mpg-imp) (17" wheels)

Anyone know where the 16" information comes from? That seems like a pretty big difference just to put down to a change in wheel size. Are the 16" tires fitted with low rolling resistance tires or something? 63.120.61.11 (talk) 22:31, 8 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Normally, the EPA doesn't produce different figures by wheel size, but in this case, the 2010 Milan (17" wheels) and 2010 Milan S (16" wheels) have different entries on www.fueleconomy.gov. But then, the 2011 Milan has different numbers altogether, so it gets confusing. --Vossanova ^o< 21:56, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
