As a non-Norwegian speaker, I feel I cannot comment on the accuracy and quality of this article, since it is basically all in Norwegian. I think someone needs to translate more of the terminology used here, and keep in mind this is suppose to be an English article.

All NATO ranks are easily compared using the NATO rank system. If we were to use the English names for the Norwegian ranks in this article half the purpose of having it is gone. If we were to add translations to the Norwegian ranks should we use British or United States military ranks? Inge 14:40, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It is supposed to be an English article about a Norwegian phenomenon. The article links to a publication by the Norwegian Department of Defence, where the English translations can be seen. I did add a few translations of the more unique parts. krikkert (Talk) 23:08, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe this can help? Should be easy to read for everybody. [1] --83.108.136.173 22:53, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Discrepancies and missing ranks[edit]

  • Medical Doctors with officer's rank have red stripes between the gold "rings" on their sleeves or sholders.
  • "S" - Missing rank for cadets at Officer Candidate School

Outdated insignias[edit]

The enlisted navy insignias are outdated, and the OR4+ level is taken out. Look in the Norwegian article for correct updates. Znuddel (talk) 20:22, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
