@Pharaoh of the Wizards: I tagged the lead section of this article with the Lead extra info tag as the opening paragraph of an article should explain why the subject is notable. It should introduce and summarize the important points of an article, not contain lots of details that set the scene for the rest of the article. Also, if something is mentioned in the lead section, that should be expanded upon in the body of the article. The lead section is intended to be a brief summary of the subject that should answer the basic who?, what?, when?, where?, and why? questions readers might have about the subject. I recommend keeping just the first sentence of the lead and moving the remainder of the lead into the body of the article. There are additional notable points already mentioned in the body should be summarized in the lead, in a sentence or two. @Pharaoh of the Wizards and @Izlhyl :I think naming this article as "Murder of <victim>" is premature and using that article in the the title is now problematic and displays not a neutral point of view on behalf of Wikipedia editors. Continuing to call this article a "Murder", at this stage, displays a lack of editorial understanding of the law and due process, especially when the title is used in the first line of the article. The article should state the facts, and should not display any opinionated prejudices that misinterpret news stories as that creates fake news. This is an editorial bias that needs to be avoided.
At this stage sources, indicate that the VICTIM is deceased and her corpse has been cremated. She was NOT burned to death despite what some SENSATIONAL headlines say. Only killing has been alleged by the person who allegedly married the victim, although the marriage is allegedly void due to the age of the parties. Police are investigating the death as a murder and the cremation as destruction of evidence. An FIR essentially means police are investigating crimes under Sections 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of an offence or giving false information to screen the offender) and 302 (punishment for murder). The eleven relatives of the deceased who have been detained by the police are being questioned. While police have arrested some, this does not mean it is proven beyond reasonable doubt that an offence has been committed, only that police have sufficient evidence to lay charges in court. Please remember that perpetrators have the right to a fair trial and Wikipedia has an ethical responsibility to avoid harming the rights of a person accused of a crime and presume they are innocent before they have found guilty and convicted of any crime in court.
This mean editors should seriously consider not writing about this article publicly and consider moving it to draft space. The alternative is deletion. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 23:50, 13 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your message articles like Murder of George Floyd were created much before the court verdict there is no rule that articles for murder cannot be created before the court verdict. @Pharaoh of the Wizards: I do not object to the title of this article being called the Murder of Aishwarya if that is the COMMONNAME the news media have settled on. What I object to is the first sentence of the article starting with: The Murder of Aishwarya occurred ... because this has not been proven beyond reasonable doubt at trial. At this stage all that can be said is that Aishwarya is deceased and the police believe there are sufficiently suspicious circumstances to lay charges of murder and destruction of evidence against her parents and perhaps others. However, all suspects are "presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law". Until the courts decide that, this is a case of a suspicious Death and nothing more, because the cause of death has not been determined. For Wikipedia to write otherwise indicates a biased and non-neutral point of view that prejudices the suspects right to a fair trial. As with many other crimes, the crime of Murder has two aspects, an act and an intention. While the outcome of the act is that the victim, Aishwarya, is dead, Wikipedia cannot presently write that she was murdered, because that is a matter of opinion that a criminal court needs to decide, first.
