Magazine Style Article[edit]

This article seems to have been written by someone within the museum. There are a few statements referring the things about the museum as "Our", as if the editors are affiliated with the museum. In addition, this article does not cite any sources for the information. Editors familiar with the museum should edit the article so it has a more neutral tone, rather than a promotional article. I've updated the template on the article to reflect that the main issue of the article is the fact that the article is written like a brochure for the Museum, rather than a pure Bias issue. Hopefully the magazine template will convey that better than the NPOV tag. I didn't want to use the AD template since that is more for commercial advertising. Sounds better. Some specifics I see opportunities for are:
  • The opening tag line needs to be more specific on what criteria the museum is considered one of the largest. Is this based on exhibit space, number of exhibits, or perhaps number of visitors?
  • There aren't any citations. Part of making the article more encyclopedic is using secondary sources, rather than firsthand knowledge about the museum. Providing citations, such as articles written by the Florida Times Union, or one of the local arts and entertainment papers like Folio Weekly, will accomplish this. Perhaps the Museum Association has some information as well.
  • On the exhibit list, you may want to limit the recent exhibit list, if not also the current exhibit list to artists and exhibits that would be classified as notable by the WP:CREATIVE criteria.
I hope these suggestions are helpful. You may also wish to seek other opinions from the folks in the Contemporary Art WikiProject listed at the top of this talk page. I'm sure their Art Expertise could be helpful in improving this article as well. Subwayatrain (talk) 09:27, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
