Spoiler warning and deletion, corrections and addition

[edit]

I'm a newbie, and this is my most significant edit yet, so I'm eager for feedback. I've kept to the form/extent of the article as I found it, so I haven't cited sources for my two content corrections and one addition. The spoiler warning is needed 1] for the picture and text concerning the film's end, which gives away the resolution of the main character's spiritual quest, and 2] because the last shot offers a surprise on first viewing, as it gradually changes from "character returns to family home" to "character returns to spiritual home". I removed the unnecessary spoiling detail of the candle scene. I feel it's unfortunate to reveal the ending, but I don't feel bold enough nor have the time to rewrite the article from scratch. SPOILER WARNING IS NEEDED! What is the point of ruining the film? 86.179.65.216 (talk) 18:54, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The summary of the story, apart from containing spoilers, makes assertions about quite ambiguous areas of the film that I don't feel are wholly supported. The beauty of the film lies in the lack of any certain interpretation, and leaving the viewer with work to do to understand the meaning, therefore I feel the summary as it is actively detracts from the experience of the film, and should be edited.Jrowe86 (talk) 21:39, 21 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please see WP:NDA. All articles are covered under a general disclaimer, which can be found linked at the bottom of every article, and additional disclaimers, including "spoilers" are not used. – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 19:46, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

vague point in such a detailed synopsis

[edit]

I've never seen the film, and reading this, I was confused: what is meant by "crossing the pool"? At first I thought it meant levitating (floating) across the pool, using faith or meditation. Or, walking through it (difficult because the wind blows out the candle?)? Swimming? Kayaking? It makes a big difference to the intent/type of film. Thanks for bringing this up. I've been meaning to go through the entire article, but have not. It's full of potential original research and uncited claims. I tried to clarify the pool phrases somewhat by mentioning that it's drained at the first mention (rather than late in the article) and that Andrei has to walk from one wall of the pool to the other. Hope that helps some! – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 19:24, 19 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The pool is not drained when first encountered in the film, only when the main character returns to it, so this is a little misleading.Jrowe86 (talk) 21:38, 21 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

About "nostalghia" being an italian word

[edit]

"The title of the film is the Italian (Nostalghia) equivalent of the Russian "Ностальгия" (nostalgia)". In Italian, the word is "nostalgia" where the "g" is read as the "j" in "just". With the h after g, we would read the g as "geek" or "ghetto", more or less. "Nostalghia" is a not Italian, or it is a mispelling. --Ittakezou0 (talk) 06:20, 19 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The director spelled it that way on purpose so that it would be pronounced as the Russians pronounce it.

Zoe

[edit]

I deleted the listing of an actress for the character of "Zoe"- Zoe was the name of Domenico's dog that followed him everywhere, not a woman. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.47.165.73 (talk) 00:27, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
