Verification for "Famous users" section[edit]

I know it's well-intentioned, but despite the "Unreferenced" tag, additions are continuing to the "Famous users" section without any verifiability. I'm not a big advocate of this section — including a few bleeps or a background drone from an Oberheim doesn't really make for a notable list of musicians. Unless a given artist's use of an Oberheim was historically or otherwise significant, this section look like a trivia section and trivia sections are discouraged. Since this currently represents the bulk of the article and it's not verifiable, I'm going to suggest it be deleted or moved to the talk page soon until it can be improved. Oberheim 16 not mentioned in this article....[edit]

I played an Oberheim 16 in 1979 at the James Madison University in Harrisonburg Virginia. So fix it! If that product exists and you know a bit about it, please drop in a sentence or two (and some way the reader can verify it.) A quick Google for an "Oberheim 16" didn't turn much up. But that doesn't mean it didn't exist in 1979! --Ds13 (talk) 07:47, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oberheim Electronics no longer exists. It was sold to Gibson. Tom Oberheim has started a new company under the Tom Oberheim name, but it is not the same company. I believe Gibson still owns the rights to the Oberheim trademark (not to be confused with the new "Tom Oberheim" brand).synthfiend (talk) 13:40, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oakland? NOT[edit]

Why does this article say "Headquarters Oakland, California"? Oberheim Electronics was never associated with Oakland in any way. Whoever wrote this must have confused Oberheim Electronics with second-tier gangster rappers. Every Oberheim instrument I have (lots) says "Los Angeles" right on it in big letters, and the Tom Oberheim page says L.A. seven times without mentioning Oakland once.--75.79.150.43 (talk) 00:29, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
