not part of the canadian honours system[edit]

Although this award is administered by the lt governor of ontario as far as I can tell it has never been accepted by the Governor General as a part of the Canadian Honours System. Whereas other ontario decorations such as the Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship and the Order of Ontario have been, this medal does not apear in the list [1]

It is not out of the realm of possibility that it may be given status in the future (ie Order of Ontario was not recognized until 1993) until such a time that it is, this is not part of the canadian honours system....rather it is a commemorative medal like the [[Governor General's performing arts award....it can be worn around the neck, but not officially with parts of the canadian honours system like the order of canada.
