History[edit]

Owing to its history Pakistan Scouts Cadet College was inaugurated in 1996 by Former First Lady Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto Shaheed. The college was started as a residential institution in 1996. The buildings initially being used by the college were actually constructed by the Pakistan Scouts Association in coordination with the Government of Pakistan for Bosnian refugees being displaced in the Bosnian War.

Student Life[edit]

Students attending Cadet College, Batrasi, are Cadets named BATRASIANS

The college prepares boys for the secondary school and intermediate examinations conducted by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Abbotabad, and also for the General Certificate of Education 'O' Levels and 'A' Levels, which follow a similar format to the GCSEs and 'A' levels used in the UK. Some cadets study for Matriculation or F.Sc. (both pre-medical and pre-engineering). English, Urdu, Islamiyat, Pakistan studies, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology are compulsory at each level; computer science is offered offered from class 7th to 10th

Foreign students who are week in URDU language can replace the subject with Pakistan Culture. Furthermore, they will have an option either to have Islamiyat and Pakistan Studies in Urdu, or English.

Mess Timings[edit]

The students will have Breakfast at 8 o'clock in the morning after having early morning fitness exercises. Second, Lunch time will be after School Classes, and Dinner will be served after Isha Prayer around 8pm.

Study Periods[edit]

Classes are conducted in the morning till Zuhr Prayer. College conduct Prep Classes (individual silent study periods) for preparation of the syllabus at night. The routine is a structured daily regime to promote maximum performance by the students. Moreover, the total time period for students to study per day is around 9 hrs.

Prayers and Islamics activities[edit]

College ensures the students to pray 5 times a day and conduct compulsory Nazra classes (Quran reading classes)after Zuhr prayer. All five prayers are performed in a Masjid led by an Imam. The College Mosque is the centre of all religious activities. It has the capacity to accommodate about 1500 Namazies at a time. Besides the daily 5 times prayers, Jumma Prayers, Travih Prayers in Ramadan and Eid Prayers are also offered in this beautiful mosque. Moreover, other religious functions like Eid-Milad-un-Nabi, Shab-e-Barat, 27 Ramadan-ul-Mubarak etc are also performed here. A regular Khateeb and Moazzan (both Hafiz e Quraan) have been appointed to fulfill these desires.



Scouting Activity[edit]

The college under Pakistan_Boy_Scouts_Association inherits UNIQUE SCOUTING TRADITIONS that will always from an important part of its ethos, Efforts are made to infuse in scout cadets the “Scouting Spirit”. They are required to put on Scout Uniform during all Scout activities and receive training for community service and Scout skill through Scout BADGE SYSTEM. In order to widen their mental horizon, they are offered ample opportunities of exposure and participation in important Scout events within the country and abroad, such as Moots, Jamborees and Youth Forums. This institution with a strong base on scouting adventure training and outdoor activities is the first of its kind in the WHOLE WORLD.

AIM of the College[edit]

  1. To create a conducive teaching and learning environment at the campus.
  2. To enable Scout Cadets to develop skills of intellectual enquiry and creativity.
  3. To enable Scout Cadets to master skills of effective communication.
  4. To enable Scout Cadets to benefit from the state of the art scientific support provided by the institution.
  5. To provide Scout Cadets effective classroom teaching for attaining certificates in the Mainstream and Cambridge Education.
  6. To enable Scout Cadets to develop global vision of citizenship through close interaction with modern educational institutions abroad through connecting
 classroom programme under the auspices of the British Council.


Location[edit]

Pakistan Scouts Cadet College is located on Mansehra – Balakot Road, at a picturesque lush green spot in Batrasi hills at a distance of 16 KM from Mansehra City, the institution offers a clean and healthy environment close to nature, The area bounds in numerous natural springs of pure limpid water and pine forest.

Education Pathways[edit]

It is a fully residential institution, functions on public school system and follows the courses of study prescribed by the Ministry of Education, Govt of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Abbottabad for Pakistani scheme of studies and Cambridge for O&A Levels. The college also offers Cambridge Education which is as mentioned O and A Levels.

Infrastructure[edit]

The college is spread over approximately 1100 acres (445 ha). Buildings on the property include a Mosque, a three-story education block, college auditorium known as Major Usman Shaheed Auditorium in memory of Ex-cadet . The Eight Residential boarding wings, two cadet messes. One Squash court, three badminton courts, One Long tennis court, football/cricket stadium, and two professional basketball courts Sports facilities include two squash courts and a number of football, hockey and cricket pitches, as well as a horse-back riding ground. The college has residential accommodation for the teaching and administrative staff based within the college. There is an oval ground in the middle of the college around which all the six wings are located. It is a cricket ground with flood lights installed around for playing cricket matches even at night. College also has Swimming pool, a hospital, the administrative block, a workshop and a hobbies block.

Hospital[edit]

The college has a hospital managed by a qualified doctor and assisted by trained nursing staff from the Army Medical Corps. The scout cadets are also entitled for medical treatment at the Combined Military Hospital, Abbottabad and DHQ Mansehra. In case a cadet is to be operated upon, effort is made to inform the parents/guardians. However, if there is no time to inform them, such cadets are operated upon without any dely. The parents/guardian will have no objection for emergent surgery.


Rules and Regulation of the College[edit]

All cadets of gross indiscipline shall be decided by the College Council, presided by Principal. Decisions taken by the College Council shall be final and unchallengeable in any court of law.

     The acts of following nature can result in Discharge/expulsion of Scout Cadet from the College, with or without warning.

  1. Indiscipline, cheating, lying and stealing, use of abusive language and immoral conduct.
  1. Leaving the College campus in an unauthorized dress and without proper permission of the House Master.
  1. Rudeness to staff members and seniors.
  1. Keeping fire arms, knives of large size or other lethal weapon.
  1. Smoking or using any drug or narcotics.
  1. Willfully or deliberately damaging the college property.
  1. Being habitually unpunctual, untidy, slovenly or unkempt.
  1. Consistent poor performance in academics or provisional/conditional admission.
  1. Absence from dormitories or Houses after lights out timing.
  1. Taking part in strikes, protests, intergroup fights, politics and indulgence in rowdyism.
  1. keeping undesirable literature and unauthorized items.
  1. The Scout Cadets are not allowed to keep any other item of clothing except those given in approved clothing list.
  1. The names of relatives and friends, along with their full addresses, authorized to see the Scout Cadets must be intimated to the College or else

they should bring along a letter of authority from the parents, (with original CNIC).

  1. Parents or visitors must not see Scout Cadet on working days without first obtaining permission of the House Master concerned.
  1. No Scout Cadet is allowed to open a private account in the local post office or bank without permission of the House Master, and he is not

allowed to keep a credit account with the College cafeteria or shops.

  1. It is the responsibility of the parents/guardians to arrange safe journey back to the college during the breaks/holidays for their sons/wards

for going home.
