Corrections[edit]

Firstly, I would like to thank all the previous editors who put together the plot. It captures the essence of the film quite nicely. I have made two corrections:

  • Perumal's father is NOT a Hijra. Hijras are intersexed or transgendered. Perumal's father is not. In the scene at the hospital, Perumal's mother tells Perumal that the incident at the college was not the first time his father was harassed and humiliated. Many times before, miscreants kidnapped Permual's father thinking that he was a woman (implying an intention of rape) but let him go after removing his skirt and realising he is a man. This dialogue suggests that Perumal's father is not a Hijra. He is depicted as a relatively effeminate man though. As for his profession, he is merely in drag as he participates in a folk dance form (I have been unable to pin down the exact form). During the inquiry meeting at the principal's office, Perumal's father tells the principal, "Sir, I am someone who dances in female costume..."
  • Made a minor correction to the dialogue quoted in the last paragraph.
