Fair use rationale for Image:Patrolboardgame.jpg[edit]

Image:Patrolboardgame.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

First![edit]

There is common understanding that Sniper/Patrol were the first skirmish-level hex and counter wargames. Unreliable sources say this, and I am at a loss what other game at this scale came before. . As such it's an important part of the history of wargaming. I don't think it can be asserted without a reliable source. Early reviews might mention it. -- GreenC 03:40, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

BTW "skirmish" is different from "tactical", the former is individual oriented the later squad and platoon. -- GreenC 03:41, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Cool. :) Guinness323, did anything like that come up in the sources you found? BOZ (talk) 03:58, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I don't remember reading a specific "this is the first...", but I'll have to re-read them all to make sure.Guinness323 (talk) 06:08, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Another quick scan of the interwebs confirms this fact (as it applies to Sniper!) on The Tactical Wargamer. More significant for Sniper!, since it was published first, but I dropped it into this article's Publication history, since it mentions Sniper! as a predecessor.Guinness323 (talk) 06:35, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hey User:PamD and User:Hobit, you voted to Keep this one at AFD way back in 2013, and look what we managed to do. :) Armageddon: Tactical Combat, 3000-500 BC is at draft awaiting AFC review now, so hopefully that passes as well! BOZ (talk) 20:47, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
