Collaboration on article revision[edit]

This article is an area of interest to me and within my range of experience. I welcome collaboration and plan to share suggested updates here before posting to the page. FYI, my edits are also being reviewed by colleagues and faculty at my university, as this contribution is an element in a Wikipedia project.

Tone and need for citations[edit]

This article covers a fairly central and important topic in clinical psychology, but the second section (beginning "Actually, nothing...") requires revision for appropriate tone, and citations for multiple claims.

This is an area of interest for me and, though not would not claim expertise, I am quite familiar with the subject (I am a student in this discipline). If nobody else chimes in I will see what I can do. :)

Any comment?

I am a student of the field in Quebec, Canada, although I am not sure if the profession means the same, in terms of definition, everywhere.
For example (in French) is official documentation concerning the roles of the psychoeducator, although it might be a somewhat-narrowed point of view, and something left to be more exhaustive. http://www.ordrepsed.qc.ca/Psychoeducateur.aspx Twipley (talk) 03:17, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Needs a rewrite[edit]

This article really needs a rewrite. Firstly, it is a very limited view on the topic - Psycho-education does not only mean education provided to people with a mental health issue, but can be used to describe education given to anyone on various psychosocial topics.

This article makes it sound like a self-contained therapeutic approach, which it is not.

Also, I am deleting the entire 'Controversy' section. It is entirely off-topic, very subjective and even written from the first person. It reads like a copy paste job for sure. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.74.165.67 (talk) 05:57, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I mostly agree with this summation regarding a re-write needed. Have started working on it. In the process of gathering reliable sources and developing some structure.Mrm7171 (talk) 03:15, 22 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Important article though and will be worth the effort. Empirical research has shown this a very effective and evidence based practice.Mrm7171 (talk) 03:17, 22 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
