Regional Public Holidays

I am not sure how we should handle regional public holidays in the Philippines. To keep it simple and to minimize formatting, since I am not all that up on Wikipedia formatting, I have just added them into the regular grid as appropriate, with the appropriate note. I would suggest putting it in a new section called Subnational Holidays or Civic Holidays (as what they're called in Canada). I'm aware that most cities and provinces, as well as some municipalities, have their own special holidays (some non-working, some not) as set down by congress or as proclaimed by the president. Even though this may take a while to fully compile, it would be better to leave the national holidays (as outlined in the official government webpage on holidays) in the main table. — Dakilang Isagani (talk) 08:25, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

"Abolition" section removed

I've removed the "Abolition" section, which asserted without support, "In 2011, President Benigno S. Aquino III declared that Holiday Economics will no longer be implemented, and that holidays will be observed on the actual day regardless of its position within the week."

As I understand it, Aquino issued Presidential proclamation No. 84 which, in accordance with Republic Act No. 9492, proclaims changes in the dates of various holidays for the year 2011. See [1], the headline of which mentions what the headline-writer called "doing away with holiday economics", but which the body of the article explAquino has the discretion to move to the nearest Monday or maintain the commemoration of holidays that are not religious in nature because RA 9492 says the said holidays can be moved 'unless otherwise modified by law, and/or proclamation.'"
