Hi.

I'm familiarly known as Bill.

I've been living on the Philippine island of Boracay since retiring here 1996. My wife, Solina, and I used to own and operate a small Boracay resort/hotel called Michelle's Bungalows, but that was one of the several resorts destroyed in the Boracay fire of January 21, 2005. At present, I'm mostly a layabout. I did spend some time in 2006 putting up a Boracay website (www.boracayinfo.net) and I currently maintain that site although, due to flagging interest on my part, I announced to interested parties in June of 2008 the impending demise of the site. Most probably, the site will not survive past 2008.

I used to be fairly active in the soc.culture.filipino usenet newsgroup, where I'm still known as Boracay Bill. My participation level there has dropped off severely since senseless name-calling and flame wars have become the rule rather than the exception.

Before I gave up working for a living, I had a long hardware/software engineering/technical career with Motorola. Even earlier, I was a Philco TechRep for about nine years, mostly doing contract work for various US Govt agencies in Vietnam during the unpleasantness there.

I was one of the early members of the Debian Linux project, working on the project for its first three years or so in 1993-1996.

Creating this Wikipedia user page seemed to me to be the proper thing to do after I found myself occasionally creating and editing various Wikipedia content pages. I created this user page in 2004, but my activity level on WP was pretty low up until mid-2006. Since then, I've been increasingly active.

and others. Most of my edits, though, tend to touch the edited articles lightly. Quite a lot of my edits don't touch article content at all, focusing on cleanup of footnotes and citations.

My watchlist contains over 500 articles in several subject areas, and I generally review changes to watchlisted articles on a daily basis.
