Is there a more recent remake of this film as well? Or is it just a film with the same name? - AKeen 00:28, 23 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This film is also listed in Time all times 100 movies. [1] srangwal 06:16, 26 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like a lot of this article is directly plagiarised from: http://www.upperstall.com/films/pyaasa.html http://www.time.com/time/2005/100movies/0,23220,pyaasa,00.html http://www.rediff.com/movies/2003/jun/23dinesh.htm —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.75.200.7 (talkcontribs)

"Eternal" thirst?[edit]

Pyaasa means thirst, not eternal thirst. fixed. GSMR (talk) 18:09, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Source material[edit]

I have removed the following unsupported claim from the article, that was originally added to the in 20009 and has stayed there despite being unsourced, and possibly a hoax:

The film is based on a book written by author and poet Chandra Shekhar 'Prem', from Himachal Pradesh. It was partly based on his life story. He was a struggling poet in the 1950s at the time and took the book to Bollywood. He sold the story and its rights for Rs.500, so was never given any credit for his work. He went on to publish many books in Hindi and Urdu he was never recognised as the true author of this work. He died in 2002.

If, as the above paragraph itself states, 'Prem' "was never recognised as the true author of this work", wikipedia should not be in the business of according that recognition without any reliable source to base it on. Of course, if someone does find such a source that is not just a circular reference to wikipedia, feel free to add the claim back to the article. 50.129.92.215 (talk) 11:08, 12 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
