Who was first?[edit]

Who was the soldier that first raised the soviet flag on the Reichstag building on the evening of April, 30 in 1945? Was it Rakhimzhan Qoshqarbaev (as is said on this page) or was it Mikhail Minin (as it is said on the Wikipedia-page about the photographer Yevgeny Khaldei, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yevgeny_Khaldei)? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alexandersam (talk • contribs) 08:45, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rakhimzhan Qoshqarbaev was the first to do it. Mikhail Minin did it later on the same day. Selerian (talk) 03:23, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

@Alexandersam: Qoshqarbaev was first to raise it at the building (in the opera hall, not the roof). First person to raise it on the roof did so at night with Qoshqarbaev nearby, and later a different group of people raise the flag with Yevgeny Khaldei. Confusing? Absolutely. The Russian Wikipedia says he died in 1988, but doesn't have a source; and I can't find an obituary. --Delirium (talk) 18:29, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
