What book does the translation of the Liudprand of Cremona quote come from, and what is the original untranslated text? The following seems to be the same quote using an alternative translation:
"The Greeks began to fling their fire all around; and the Rus, seeing the flames, threw themselves in haste from their ships, preferring to be drowned in the water rather than burned alive in the fire.[1]
Would it be possible to use a mix of both translations, using the above translation and then adding the currently used sentence "Some sank, weighed down by the weight of their breastplates and helmets; others caught fire"?
