Failure to observe NPOV ; weaseliness[edit]

Today I was reading this article simply because I had never heard of its subject until seeing a link somewhere else in Wikipedia. I was struck by the wording that "Whether because the SLF was still a young organization or because the turnout was much higher than expected, the demonstration quickly got out of hand..."

What if the SLF organizers as a group, or perhaps an agent provocateur within the SLF, wanted the demonstration to proceed just as it did?! These possibilities are not mentioned. I have no knowledge of what actually happened, nor even of what competing views about responsibility/causation may have been offered at the time of the demonstration or trial -- but I am pretty sure that few readers would suppose that there were only two possible causes for the course of events at the demonstration, and I believe that the current wording effectively weasels the SLF organizers out of perceived full responsibility for the crimes that were committed. The breakup[edit]

Is there information that support why the group fell apart? This would be helpful in the Aftermath section. (Thegreatbuckeyes (talk) 15:21, 17 March 2009 (UTC))[reply]

The page on SLF says the group was only active from 1970 to 1971. Is it possible that some of the members still led protests or other activist type work? Weatherman lasted until about 1977 yet some of those members went on and still stood up for the cause that created SDS and the WUO in the first place. I think it would be helpful to have some more dates and events that SLF took part in or was there only a couple things they did? MyWiki2010 (talk) 15:07, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Some of the members, after the breakup, did continue to protest and pursue different activist type activities. I added as much about their life after SLF as I thought appropriate; I did not want to take away from the core article of SLF activities while they were together. I wanted to maintain neutrality and focus on SLF. If others think that more events about specific individuals need to be added then it should be done. Affiliation with Weatherman[edit]

The article says it "remains ambiguous." Marshall's desire to dissociate himself with Weather is clear but are there any references to be found of Weatherman claiming camaraderie with SLF similar to how they associated themselves with the Black Panther Party?--Cykesummers (talk) 05:29, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There are documents posted in the University of Washington Libraries Digital Collections - Vietnam War Era Ephemera that show that both the SLF and Weatherman were present at, or took part in, the protests against UW and BYU. Also, both groups stemmed from the same organization (SDS) and had at least one documented shared member, Susan Stern. --Fcbyrn2010de (talk) 07:20, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
