Should Sega 3D Fukkoku Archives and Sega 3D Classics Collection have separate articles?[edit]

Should Sega 3D Fukkoku Archives and Sega 3D Classics Collection be two separate articles like on the Japanese Wikipedia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by SuperMarioMuseum (talkcontribs) 15:53, 23 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal[edit]

The result of this discussion was to merge The1337gamer (talk) 15:14, 24 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I propose that Sega 3D Fukkoku Archives be merged into Sega 3D Classics Collection. Recently, a third JP retail collection was announced and instead of spliting the articles by region I think it would be much better to have a single comprehensive article that lists all the releases so far: Sega 3D Fukkoku Archives (1, 2 / 3D Collection, and 3), their development (the Sega Blog Interviews is a great resource for this), etc. We even have an existing list on the wiki that could be used to aid us in this task. Support per OP. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 19:43, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Personally, I'm in favour of them all being in a singular article. By doing this, it provides more content on the singular article of the Classics Collection. Iftekharahmed96 (talk) 12:14, 18 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm also in favour of the merge, so it'll be like it used to be on one article. It would be more organised and cleaner when merged together. Both articles being full of identical copy-pasted sentences doesn't exactly help either. It's a range of collected video games with multiple volumes, after all, which in this case doesn't really warant the need for multiple articles. GonbeFAN (talk) 09:39, 21 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Moved to Sega 3D Reprint Archives per consensus below. Thanks and kudos to editors for your input; good health to all! P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'r there 06:08, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sega 3D Classics CollectionSega 3D Fukkoku Archives – This page is currently structured as a page for the game "Sega 3D Classics Collection", that happens to also cover "Sega 3D Fukkoku Archives" and "Sega 3D Fukkoku Archives 3: Final Stage". I think it would be better structured as a page about the video game series "Sega 3D Fukkoku Archives" that covers all three equally, rather than emphasizing the only game with an English release so strongly. In that case, the title "Sega 3D Fukkoku Archives" would also be more appropriate, as this is common to the titles of all three games in the series. I've restructured the page accordingly, but it is not possible to move the page due to Sega 3D Fukkoku Archives already existing (it redirects to this page). --SnorlaxMonster 14:55, 2 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose As English names should be preferred, although I would not oppose a merge into 3D Classics. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 07:34, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • The series as a whole lacks any English name, so there is no English name to prefer. The current page title is the title of a single game in the series, which I don't think it makes sense to use unless we give each of the games their own separate page (which I would prefer not to do). --SnorlaxMonster 08:01, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
      • I am somewhat sympathetic to the idea that the Japanese word shouldn't be added back into the title. It just means "reprint" or "release", and there are at least some non-Japanese sources that call the series Sega 3D Reprint Archives, e.g. this and this. I would suggest using that as a compromise that doesn't require too much extra work here. Dekimasuよ! 02:49, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for finding a suitable translation for Fukkoku. I don't mind translating the word as "Reprint" if it has decent use in English-language sources. — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 04:24, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
        • I fully support the title of "Sega 3D Reprint Archives". I have no issue with using a translated title over a transliterated one. I think secondary sources tend to lean towards "Fukkoku" slightly more often, but it wouldn't surprise me if that's largely due to that being the name Wikipedia was using at the time. --SnorlaxMonster 10:49, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support as this article is about the series of collections, not just the second one. Sega 3D Classics Collection should instead be a section redirect. — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 22:50, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
