Mistake in translation[edit]

Not necessarily. While in Modern Hebrew "olam" means "world", in the Jewish liturgy "universe" may be more appropriate. "Olam" fairly clearly refers to the universe as it is now, as opposed to "olam habah", the messianic "world to come". Mo-Al (talk) 23:57, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Actually in bilingual Jewish Siddurim (Prayerbooks), it is regularly translated "King of the universe". transliteration[edit]

The transliteration of the last two lines seems a bit off to me:

שֶׁהֶחֱיָנוּ וְקִיְּמָנוּ וְהִגִּיעָנוּ לַזְּמַן הַזֶּה׃

she-ecḥeyanu ve'qi'eh'manu va'higiy'anu laz'man hazeh.

Most of those apostrophes, one h and one y appear out of place. A literal (albeit archaic) rendering is shehechĕyānū vǝ-qiyyǝmānū vǝ-higî‘ānū lazzǝman hazzeh. Likely someone can improve on that. —Tamfang (talk) 05:10, 11 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
