Shinju -Shinjuku[edit]

I find it interesting that the Tokyo ward Shinjuku, looked at from the perspective of the definition of Shinju, would seem to translate into 'double suicide - ward'. Even though the Kanji are different, the pronunciation (to this gaijin) seems the same. 71.139.160.140 (talk) 18:01, 26 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This is utterly inane and ludicrous. First of all, the ju in Shinju is a long vowel, whereas the ju in Shinjuku is a short vowel (and vowel length is significant, noticeable and consequential in Japanese). Secondly, the pitch accent of both are different as well. Thus, the pronunciation is most certainly not the same. 116.88.234.216 (talk) 00:05, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

They've taken the term "love suicide" under the autolink Shinjū[edit]

  1. Other nationals commit love suicide also
  2. love suicide originates in actual life (read police stories), art comes second — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:2149:8207:DC00:E422:4991:94C6:160E (talk) 22:46, 31 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
