Moved back from Shoulder pad[edit]

Whilst singular nouns are preferred on Wikipedia, shoulder pads are always used in pluralised form (2 pads make up 1 piece of equipment and cannot be separated). See WP:NAME. Thanks. --Bren talk 01:10, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image[edit]

I'm wondering if the image presently featured in the article adequately illustrates the subject of the article. IMHO it does not. After all the pads are covered by jerseys. I can't see the shoulder pads! IMHO two images should be featured: 1. the shoulder pads alone; and 2. a football player wearing the shoulder pads beneath a jersey. This article can be exapnded to support two images. For example, a history of the use of shoulder pads in football could be included, their construction, materials, cost, companies manufacturing football shoulder pads, etc. TimmyTruck (talk) 12:22, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Possible edits[edit]

Hi there, after reviewing the article we have a few edits that we would propose. First of all, we would make the history about Pop Warner its own paragraph and expand on it a little bit by adding a sentence or two about who Pop Warner is. Next when the article is going into detail about the shoulder pads, we would specify that it is talking about American football shoulder pads because shoulder pads for different sports vary in style. If there is any opposition, let us know and we can discuss. Thanks. A.anderson.20 (talk) 13:52, 27 April 2017 (UTC) Another possible edit that can be made is adding some knowledge on shoulder pads from other sports besides football. As pointed out in the overview, hockey and lacrosse are also sports that require shoulder pads to be worn. We could talk about the differences in the shoulder pads between the three sports as well.Jdallison17 (talk) 23:14, 10 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Here are our edits:  -Deleted paragraph about rib protector (it goes off topic) -Added a link to a related article in the "See also" section -Expanded history section (added info about LP Smock) and added a citation -Specified that American Football shoulder pads are being discussed in the last paragraph -Indicated areas that need citations (Paragraph 1, 2 and 3 of the original article) using an "Unreferenced section" tag -Rearranged the order of the article a little bit -Added a photo A.anderson.20 (talk) 17:20, 4 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
