Split off Softsoap[edit]

I seem to remember Softsoap being a Big Thing when it was first released. If nothing else, it seemed to usher in the flood of liquid hand and body soap products that exist today. I'd like to expand on this a little more sometime, but I'm not quite ready to expand on the stub that the Colgate-Palmolive article links to. Until then, I think the Billy Joel note will have to suffice. --Mdwyer 20:23, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, that was quick... --Mdwyer 01:16, 8 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

http://chemicalland21.com/industrialchem/organic/MAGNESIUM%20STEARATE.htm according to the above page.. well let me quote it just in case; "If sodium hydroxide is used as the alkali, hard soaps are formed; potassium hydroxide yields soft soaps."
