Features[edit]

Propulsion[edit]

I think that the main propulsion system should be included in this articl, even if it is ground-based (laser array, photon driver, or whatever they call it). Cheers, BatteryIncluded (talk) 05:48, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The description mentions a photon thruster, suggesting that it's an on-board component. This links to photonic laser thruster, but that article is mostly about sources ground-based or on another craft ("off-board" if I may), although the Breakthrough site says that "photon thrusters" are on board.[1] It's not clear, since the originating study[2] says that the photon thrusters would be off-board. That is sort of the point. So it looks like the Breakthrough Project needs clearer writing. Kortoso (talk) 18:51, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The main propulsion will be from the ground-based lasers, and their onboard lasers are only photon thrusters for attitude control and course corrections. BatteryIncluded (talk) 23:16, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
