Article clean-up[edit]

I've tagged this article for clean-up as it is not reflective of many wikipedia norms. The article appears to be a copy and paste from a review somewhere. Having only seen and enjoyed this film once and a long time ago, I can't make the changes at the moment so if anyone else can that would be great. MLA 14:38, 22 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I cleaned it up myself so have taken the tag off. MLA 18:44, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reference to Fordham[edit]

I removed the reference to Fordham University. The movie makes no reference to Fordham, and the classroom sequences do not appear to have been filmed there. I note that while the IMDB says it was, the bio re the screenwriter says it was filmed elsewhere.[1] In any event, Fordham is not mentioned in movie.--Mantanmoreland 15:02, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please re-write plot[edit]

After just watching the movie, I feel the plot review in the Wikipedia article does not reflect what happens in the movie. For example, the article says Freed corrupts his 'students' but he only corrupts one student. Second, Freed borrows the money from his mother to pay Hips, to pay for his accumulated gambling losses. The article says it the other way around. Also, the movie never shows if the pimp is dead or not, it is most likely that he is only severely beat up. From the reaction of the prostitute to the fact that, even though it was a bad beating, it would be unlikely that it would kill him. Someone please fix this. Thank you

Amount from mother[edit]

I have edited "Plot," to clarify some things and to remove the interpretation of the movie's ending. I have not changed the information that Axel gets the $44,000 from his mother and then gambles it into a small fortune in Las Vegas, but I'm not sure that's correct. I think the amount the mother takes out of her bank account for him is $15K, not $44K, but I'm not sure whether that's supposed to be all that she gives him. In other words, I don't know whether Axel goes to Vegas with the full $44K and then increases it (only to blow everything on subsequent bets), or whether he goes to Vegas to turn the $15K into the $44K he needs.
