Page Size[edit]

This page is awfully long. Why don't we split it into 2 pages: one with the history of the show, and another with the list of its contents.DougHill (talk) 18:37, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done. The page with the contents is now The History of Rock and Roll contents.DougHill (talk) 19:53, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rockumentary?[edit]

Did The History of Rock & Roll call itself a "Rockumentary"? (I seem to recall that it did, but I've not heard it broadcast in decades.) If so, that may be the first documented use of the term, and should be noted.DougHill (talk) 23:52, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes it did, see: [1], so I put it on the page. The quote I used came from the Variety ad on that page, click on the photo there (of a woman playing an electric string intrument) to see it.DougHill (talk) 22:38, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edits[edit]

The Name[edit]

I moved the following off the page:

To be fair, however, the radio special shared its name from a 1960's single from Christopher Paul, "The History of Rock & Roll".[citation needed]

The single seems to be quite obscure (I can't find any evidence of it online) and the name is rather obvious. So if they share a name, it is probably just a coincidence, and not notable enough for the page.DougHill (talk) 18:37, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame[edit]

Removed these two sentences because

  • They don't make any sense, grammatically speaking.
  • They don't belong in this article--this is about the radio show, not the rock and roll hall of fame.
  • The statement that the beatles are the best band isn't exactly objective or cited (unsigned)

The beatles are on the top of the Rock and Roll hall of fame, this is because they were The first inducted to the Roock and Roll hall of fame. The Beatls are the best Band most opinians.(unsigned & uncredited)

For the record, according to the List of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, the Beatles were in the THIRD group of artists inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (in 1988).DougHill (talk) 23:52, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gary Theroux[edit]

I copied (and edited) some of the info from the 1978 section here to the new page on Gary Theroux. So I think that some of the details on Gary Theroux that are now there should be removed here. Any objections? DougHill (talk) 01:51, 15 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think I have an issue, other than we shouldn't have two pages with the same content, but can you give us some "for instances" of what you plan on moving? Ckruschke (talk) 18:47, 18 March 2014 (UTC)Ckruschke[reply]
I just made an edit that removed some details now on the new page. That's what I have in mind. DougHill (talk) 02:59, 20 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good - thanks. Ckruschke (talk) 16:38, 20 March 2014 (UTC)Ckruschke[reply]
