Grand Duchess[edit]

At the risk of sounding like engaging in OR, in Imperial Russia, the title of Grand Duke-Grand Duchess was reserved for members of the House of Romanov who were not the Emperor-Empress. For an example, all of the uncles and brothers of the Emperor Nicholas II were all grand dukes while his daughters were all grand duchesses. If Tatiana Petrovnathe, the heroine of this film held the title of Grand Duchess that would make her into a member of the imperial family. The article does not say that, and maybe that was not the intention here. I am not certain if the writers were familiar with rules about Russian nobility, so they might used the title of Grand Duchess about it sounded Russian. Perhaps some clarification is needed about this.--A.S. Brown (talk) 16:04, 23 March 2020 (UTC)  [reply]

Redirect page[edit]

Dear Anne,
Please forgive me for requesting your assistance once again (so soon! ), but I am unsure about what to do with the redirect here, from Tovarich (play). I recently updated the dab page, Tovarishch (and corrected myself today!), to differentiate the 1933 French play by Deval (spelt "Tovaritch", with the 't') from Sherwood's 1935 English translation (spelt "Tovarich", w/o the 't'), but since there isn't an article for the latter, is there really a need for this redirect? Might this perhaps be a holdover from a time when there was an article for the Sherwood play, that was replaced by the redirect, for some reason? Would it be OK to remove this seemingly redundant redirect? If so, how does one do that, please?
Thank you, as ever, for your advice and guidance.
With kind regards;

PS:I've just checked the Pages that link to "Tovarich (play)", and all of them relate to the play, not the film covered in the present article; this suggests that the redirect is misplaced. Thank you for your help with this.

You're right, it's misleading. I've tagged it for speedy deletion but if it's seen as needing a discussion, WP:RFD is your best best. Thanks, Boleyn (talk) 15:54, 24 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Boleyn,
Thank you so much for your action and guidance. Is this tagging for speedy deletion something I should/could have done myself, or does it require admin-level rights? (I can see it's disappeared, as the link above in now red, but I don't understand how you've done that. ) Thank you for enlightening me, whenever convenient.
With kind regards;

Hi, user:Pdebee, do you use WP:TWINKLE? I have that and it tags it for speedy deletion for me, it makes it much easier to nominate articles for deletion and for a few other things. You can do this yourself, there's more info at WP:SPEEDY and some of the tags are here: Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion/Deletion templates but Twinkle means it takes one second. Thanks, Boleyn (talk) 18:59, 24 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Boleyn,
I apologise for delay in acknowledging your latest post, above. Thank you for pointing out how you performed that task; no, I don't use TWINKLE, though I probably should move beyond the dark ages of Wikitext and manual processes. Thank you also for teaching me that, next time I come across a similar situation, I could tag an unproductive Redirect for deletion. As ever, many thanks for your helpful assistance.
With kind regards;

PS. I've now installed TWINKLE; looks very powerful! Which option did you select to delete this Redirect, please? G6, or one of the Rx's? Thank you.

I think it was G6, User:Pdebee, general housekeeping/cleanup. I often use that one. I hope you find TWINKLE useful. Thanks, Boleyn (talk) 07:47, 28 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That’s good to know, and I’ll use that when required. Thank you very much for all your helpful advice and guidance, Boleyn; I intend to use TWINKLE gradually, and carefully!
