58.167.72.50 (talk) 05:40, 1 February 2008 (UTC) I'm just done a bit of the history from 1997 to 2006, however I don't have the information for 2003 and 2005. Could someone fill this in. I also plan to give a bit of a description about each season and plan to do it over the next couple of weeks.[reply]

Also what does everyone think of the contents box, personally I think there is too many heading but I can't see another way to fix it. Birky21 01:49, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Toll Sponsorship[edit]

I have read that the Toll sponsorship is following Garth Tander to HRT. Jdt55 (talk) 13:36, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

the above comment is true and should be added to the page 58.167.72.50 (talk) 05:40, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rtphokie unconstructive revert[edit]

That was a bit harsh, sure User:Mwyres could have used the preview function once or twice instead of all of those little saves, but what exactly was unconstructive about it? --Falcadore (talk) 03:06, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It was an inadvertent rollback which has been restored.--Rtphokie (talk) 03:10, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah - probably should have sandboxed or previewed, but have had a bad case of "big fat fingers" the last few days, with an injured finger! Mwyres (talk) 03:49, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Article name 2017[edit]

With the Holden Racing Ream to operate under the Walkinshaw Racing banner, come January 2017 (and not before) should we:

Option 1: have HRT article to reflect the team from 1990 to 2016 and WR to reflect the team that operated from 2009 until 2015 and from 2017
Option 2: rename HRT to WR and incorporate the content of the existing WR article into it
Option 3: leave the HRT article as is, rename WR to WR (2009-2015) or something similar and have a third article named WR for the team from 2017
Option 4: rename HRT to HRT (1990-2016) or something similar, have HRT as a disambiguation page with HRT (1990-2016) and Triple Eight Racing (Australia) as the listed pages and have WR to reflect the team that operated from 2009 until 2015 and from 2017
Option 5: rename HRT to HRT (1990-2016) or something similar, have HRT as a disambiguation page with HRT (1990-2016) and Triple Eight Racing (Australia) as the listed pages, rename WR to WR (2009-2015) or something similar and have a fourth article named WR for the team from 2017

Given that the previous incarnation of WR was a satellite team of HRT much like the Holden Young Lions car was, with both having common ownership and the 2017 team just being a rebranding of the existing team much like when Ford Performance Racing was renamed Prodrive Racing Australia, think Option 2. Memdo56 (talk) 18:18, 16 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I asked Aaron Noonan how the statistics will work and he says he will be adding the 2017 WR numbers on to the current HRT numbers and is thinking about merging the 2009-15 WR numbers into that. Based on that I will say Option 2, but then also create the disambiguation page pointing to Walkinshaw Racing and to Triple Eight Race Engineering (Australia). – Kytabu 00:37, 17 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Possible format for the WR article post-merge. I forgot to mention above - it is a little early to start talking about merging. It should not to happen until the 2016 season is over, at the very least. – Kytabu 00:47, 17 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Not too early to start discussing, but is too early to rename should that be the consensus. That should wait until after the last race of 2016. If this page does become a disambiguation page there are about 500 pages to be relinked. Memdo56 (talk) 13:24, 23 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with Option 2, adding weight the team's website (www.hrt.com.au) now redirects to www.walkinshawracing.com.au. Re Andrewa's assertion below that the article is a mess, the text from the old WR article has already been integrated into the HRT article, so no real need to keep the history.
Re Bradv's questions, both had common ownership and management, the HRT brand being used from 1990 and the WR brand for the team's 3rd and 4th cars when it expanded in 2009. So was the same team, just with multiple brands, having separate articles would be WP:CONTENTFORKING. Thought it more pragmatic to move the text from the smaller WR (2009-2015) article into the larger HRT (1990-2016) article and then rename. Cwr09 (talk) 01:22, 14 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
We do need to preserve edit history for both articles for content attribution purposes. It may be technically possible to merge the two articles into one and keep the history intact. Before we go down that road, however, we need to gain consensus that these two articles need to be merged with the new name of Walkinshaw Racing. Bradv 01:50, 14 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Show stopper[edit]

I'm sorry to be a party-pooper, but one comment above by User:Cwr09 threatens to make this even messier, and might even explain why we're in a mess now. To whit:

...the text from the old WR article has already been integrated into the HRT article, so no real need to keep the history. [2]

Wrong. And I see that User:Brady has already commented to this effect. But I think it's very important that all editors be aware of our copyleft requirements.

Our commitment to being free content is not negotiable. If you're unsure as to this, or to why edit histories are important in achieving this, I can provide links. Andrewa (talk) 05:36, 14 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This article should have been merged into the Walkinshaw Racing article, rather than having the WR article merged into this one. This article should then either redirect to Walkinshaw Racing, or be turned into a disambiguation page pointing to the WR article and to Triple Eight Race Engineering (Australia). – Kytabu 04:49, 15 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
WR has announced it will reveal its new branding on 6 February. Suggest this discussion be put on hold until after this, after all it could be another name again. Impala27 (talk) 05:04, 15 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
For all the ranting and raving, it does seem that the consensus to rename is unanimous (4-0 by my count) after 5 months. What more does it need, a papal blessing? Maybe the suggested option of merging the HRT text into the WR article is a better option. Forgive me for not being overly interested in the behind the scenes bureaucracy, I’m sure there are reasons for it (no need to tell me why), but I shall scratch my vote and will leave for others to decide, what if any, course action need be taken. Cwr09 (talk) 02:58, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
With the team having had its official launch and referring to itself as Walkinshaw Racing, albeit under the Mobil 1 HSV brand for commercial reasons, [3] should the existing text at Holden Racing Team now be copied over to Walkinshaw Racing and the former set as a redirect to the latter? Would satisfy all the technical issues raised above. Impala27 (talk) 01:59, 6 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Manually copying and pasting one article to another to achieve a page move is specifically against Wikipedia guidelines because of the destruction of editting history. Re-write the article, then do a requested move. --Falcadore (talk) 22:17, 18 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Question for nominator: Why was Walkinshaw Racing merged into this article before a proposed rename? Wouldn't it have made more sense to merge the article the other way? Or are these actually two separate teams, in which case Walkinshaw Racing should be renamed to some sort of historical name? Bradv 04:07, 5 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. This is a frightful mess. There is significant history at Walkinshaw Racing that must be preserved. The name Holden Racing Team is ambiguous and should probably be a DAB, but there is a lot of work to be done before this will be possible. Andrewa (talk) 09:14, 5 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: Moved. No opposition, and seems to be consensus above. However, it appears to me that Walkinshaw Racing, the subject of the article already there, was essentially a separate team from 2009 to 2015. I've therefore moved that to Walkinshaw Racing, which lets us preserve the edit history for attribution as well.  — Amakuru (talk) 09:38, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Holden Racing TeamWalkinshaw Racing – Consenses at Talk:Holden Racing Team#Article name 2017, after 6 months, 3 editors for (Option 2), none against. Walkinshaw Racing was a standalone article, content has been merged into Holden Racing Team with the former currently a redirect to the latter, so may require an article merge to retain history. Not sure if this requires a different request path to be gone down. Impala27 (talk) 02:19, 23 February 2017 (UTC) --Relisting. TonyBallioni (talk) 00:47, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Article name 2018[edit]

With the team having confirmed it will be rebranded (again), this article will again need to be renamed to Walkinshaw Andretti United. New name won't take effect until 1 January 2018, so nothing should happen until then. Although there is also a change in the ownership structure that sometimes in the past has resulted in a new article being started, e.g. Glenn Seton Racing becoming Ford Performance Racing, think this one should just be renamed. Precedent when Dick Johnson Racing had a change in ownership structure and a rebrand as DJR Team Penske at the beginning of with that article renamed. Impala27 (talk) 04:29, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Seconded, I think the article should just be renamed. The difference is Ryan Walkinshaw still has significant shares in the team, when Prodrive (then FPR) bought out Glenn Seton, they did it outright. FullHouse97 (talk) 08:42, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
