Why not let me finish writing the article beyond the first sentence before discussing deletion. Thanks.

You don't have to post your article to Wikipedia's mainspace yet, especially when it's only starting out. WP:Your First Article has some excellent guidelines about creating a page on Wikipedia. Instead of continuing to edit this page here, consider creating a subpage to your user page where you can write and edit a draft of your article before posting it on Wikipedia proper. Thank you. I thought one of the main features of Wikipedia is that a small article or a stub could be produced and elaborated on by others. Besides, someone with a rudimentary knowledge of Australian media in the 1980s / 1990s will know that Warwick fairfax is hardly an unknown figure and warrants at least a brief history, hence the article being created in the first place. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jacksonmahr (talkcontribs) 16:07, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

At this point, I think the article is stub-worthy (though you should add references and a reflist as soon as you can). I'll remove the hang-on tag from the page, and you should add a stub notification to the bottom, as well as any categories that may apply to the subject. Good luck in writing and maintaining this article. TheLetterM (talk) 16:27, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your help and comments. I didn't mean to sound short or ill-tempered, and I do understand the need for vigilance with such a large website, but I feel like there needs to be a little more flexibility in terms of origination of articles and disputes over content - it can come across as intellectual snobbery on the part of Wikipedia gatekeepers (even though I know this certainly isn't how it was intended). Thanks again, --Jacksonmahr (talk) 17:15, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For further reading there is reference to Warwick Fairfaxs unsuccessful takeover in the Paul Barry biography of Kerry Packer - "The Rise and Rise of Kerry Packer", Chapter twenty two - "Family Feuds" . There is reference to a man named Laurie Connell, who acted as advisor on the deal, who later faced charges on unrelated collapse of Rothwells Bank. Fascinating stuff.
