Problems with page
[edit]This page describes itself about a historic Parliamentary seat, abolished in 1885. Yet it records details of elections in the 1990s and even links to the webiste of current Parliamentary candidates. Does not something need to be added about the name being revived in 1997? If so somethign should also be said about the respective extents of the present and earlier seats. Peterkingiron (talk) 16:34, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
- I agree that this is somewhat confusing. If all the details in this west Worcs article are to be retained, then it would need to bridge the hiatus in the history it describes, to include the 1950 - 1997 South Worcestershire (UK Parliament constituency), whose article does not need to go into the details of subsequent history after its abolition. It would however, then be going even beyond its scope as an article about a historic, and a reintroduced constituency. The borders need to be expanded too, I think W.Worcs is mainly the whole of the area covered by the Malvern Hills District. I've added a tag which may not be quite the most appropriate, but it's all I could think of.--Kudpung (talk) 04:59, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
- There are precedents (elsewhere) for Parliamentary constituencies that are abolished and then have a new one with the same name revived. This is somewhat later than the period that I normally work on, but I will try to resolve the issue. I had hoped that some one else might have responded to my complaint above and sorted it out. Many constituency articles are defective in that the only deal with the present boundaries and not previous ones, which in the case of abolished seats may be very different. - This is still unresolved. A task for the Worcs project?--Kudpung (talk) 14:58, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
