[edit] History
Haverfordwest Grammar School for Boys was established after Thomas Lloyd, of Cilciffeth near Llanychaer, bequeathed property in will dated 22 November 1612.[3] This included farms which earned a rental income, enabling the school to be free. A school had previously existed since the Episcopal Registrar appointed a master in 1488. The school also benefited from the will of John Milward in 1654, who also bequeathed to King's Grammar School, Birmingham.[4] The grammar school was a boarding school until 1948, when the building was demolished. It was located where the town's library stands today.[5]
Tasker's Charlity School was established by the Tasker Charity, which was set up by Mary Tasker (previously Miss Howard/Hayward, of 1 Flether Hill, Rudbaxton) in her will dated 1684,[6] to educate poor children of both sexes, although it later became a school for girls. The old school buildings have since been turned into flats.
Tasker's School for Girls and Haverfordwest Grammar School were amalgamated in the late 1940s to create the current Tasker Milward school.
As of September 2007 the head teacher is Mrs M Haynes.[2]
The school has an average pass rate of 5 GCSE's (C and above), it is one of the lowest in Pembrokeshire.

[edit] Amenities
The school has three buildings located on two sites, the Milward Building or "Lower School", where English, maths, chemistry, physics, physical education, and information & communication technology (ICT) are taught; the library is also in the Milward Building; Humanities Block or "H Block", where geography, history and RE are taught ("H Block" was built in 2001); and Tasker Building or "Top School". This is where Welsh, French, Spanish, biology, personal social education (PSE), ICT, drama, another two English classes, technology and art are taught. This is also where the Sixth Form area is, which includes a resource room and common room.
[edit] Sporting
There is an inflatable sports dome on the grounds, referred to as The Dome, which contains two tennis courts and a basketball/netball court. The Dome is open to the public after school hours (from 4pm), on weekends and school holidays. Other sporting facilities include four outside tennis courts, a hockey court and rugby pitch, astro-turf football pitch and a swimming pool. All the sports staff are fully qualified lifeguards. The swimming pool is also open for clubs, including Kayaking, on weekends and for open swimming sessions on weekends or after-school.
[edit] Special needs facilities
The school has had ramps and stair lifts installed in bottom school. Top school is less well equipped and has no disabled access for most classrooms, however, a lift should have been built at the top school by 2010. There is one stair lift for disabled access to get into the Music, Drama and English Rooms.
In summer 2008 the former site of the football and cricket pitches at the top school were lost due to the building of the new Portfield special needs school. The new facilities have given the pupils greater independence.
[edit] Energy efficiency
The school has a D grade in energy efficiency. The Tasker building and the Humanities Block now have double glazed windows. The Milward Building has double glazing in the Science Rooms.
