Automatically includes signature[edit]

I think that the automatic signature included on this template should be removed as I think many people already know to sign their posts on talk pages themselves. Also, the automatic header is a little annoying also as I am used to clicked "add section" on a talk page, filling in the header field then adding the template in the edit space. However, if you do that you end up with two ==Heading== headings. KiloT 10:20, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Both of those pieces of the template are clearly included in the Usage notes as well as being displayed when you look at the template itself. I understand it's not how lots of templates work, but it's far from the only one set up this way. The automatic header and signature are there to make things quicker for those of us who use the template on a fairly regular basis and don't want to type everything out over and over again. SAFESUBST[edit]

OK, a recent change has broken this template. I'm not smart enough to see why or how, but the SAFESUBST template (or not-template) fails – please see here for an example. JJMC89, I think it must have been your edit that introduced the error. Can you resolve it? If not, perhaps we could return to the previous version, which (apparently) worked fine. @Justlettersandnumbers: This should be  resolved now. I missed if empty|. — JJMC89(T·C) 15:22, 27 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Frietjes: The template is non-functional but I have no idea why. I think it was your edit of Sept 13 that caused the problem. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 01:03, 17 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Diannaa, it was Pppery's bad edits to Template:Require subst that broke it. it should be working again. Frietjes (talk) 13:37, 17 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for figuring it out. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 13:39, 17 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
