Tesla India Motors And Energy Private Limited is a subsidiary of Tesla, Inc. for its operations in India. The company was registered on 8 January 2021 at the Bengaluru Registrar of Companies office.[4] Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, confirmed its registration,[5] as did India Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.[6]

On 14 January 2022, Telangana Commerce and Industry Minister K.T. Rama Rao made a pitch on Twitter to Musk to help him set up Tesla in Telangana.[7]
