The 72nd Boat Race took place on 27 March 1920. It was won by Cambridge by four lengths.[1]

This was the first race since 1914 and Cambridge won the toss and chose the Surrey station.[2] The race started at 5:40 with a fair tide running, Cambridge drew ahead and by Chiwick were in the lead, some bad steering from Oxford kept them behind and by the finish Cambridge were four lengths ahead.[2]

The Times reported that the attendance was the largest in the race's history despite a rainstorm an hour before the race start.[2]
