Thank You Thank You.

Hi Anon126. @Anon126: Thanks for your thorough and very helpful response. I will work on that. Much clearer now on the difference between citations and references which is "no difference" :) Today I will make a request to take the page out of deletion so that I may work on editing Ms. Fontaines. Thanks for offering step by step answers and for making this feel less daunting. Venus2211 (talk) 18:11, 9 May 2014 (UTC)Venus2211

Hi Anon126 You are a great resource. I need more help if you can please.

(I've moved this section up here for clarity.)

Hi!

Thanks to your help I think things are improving though still messy. I tried to upload images after I made further edits and references to the page for Anastasia S. Fontaines. Is there an editor that could help me with adding images. I looked it up and it seems as though I needs someone to do it for me due to being a novice at this and new. I am in no way ready to create 10 pages yet. Getting through this one will be a major triumph. Then I will do more.

Thanks thanks thanks Venus2211 (talk) 23:30, 10 May 2014 (UTC)Venus2211

Hello again, Venus2211. I think you may have misread the requirements: You only need to make ten edits (and have your account for four days) to upload images. But even after that, there are still some rules you have to follow. I'm guessing you want to add the photo here. Copyrighted images (like this one) can only be added if they meet certain requirements. One of the requirements is that there is no way to replace it with another one that is free content. Unfortunately, photos of living people usually fail this one, because someone else could take a photo of her at a public appearance. If you really want to, you could try to take her photo at an event and upload it. Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 00:17, 11 May 2014 (UTC)

"@anon126". User:Anon126/Anon126 I did misread that. Thanks for spelling it out. I feel like a 2 year old on here. I will think out the image situation. If it's a copyright image from somewhere like Getty or Wireimage on a carpet? That would work? I believe at those carpet events only media are allowed to take photos. If it has their stamp on it would that help. I noticed that some of the images have a "LOGO Stamp" with the copyright media company on it. Does that help in the images criteria? Thanks thanks thanks Venus2211 (talk) 00:38, 11 May 2014 (UTC)Venus2211

To editor Venus2211: Basically, any image that doesn't say people are allowed to reuse it is copyrighted and "non-free". The logo stamp doesn't really matter; it's still copyrighted with or without it. I think you are right; it is difficult to take a photo at such an event, but I've made a request for one anyway. The best thing to do now is continue improving the article without an image. Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 01:04, 11 May 2014 (UTC)

I had something new come up. Conflicting edits. I have to merge my edit and don't know how to! EEK! I think this is going to take me a while. Wikipedia that is. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Venus2211 (talkcontribs) 01:27, 11 May 2014 (UTC)

To editor Venus2211: (Oh, here is your message. I almost didn't find it.) If you can't merge your changes, you can cancel what you were doing and start over. (I suspect that I was the other editor that caused the conflict, sorry if you were making big changes sad) Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 01:35, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
To editor Anon126: Thanks for making changes and doing what you are doing to help out. Not a concern it helps me to practice. ;) Ok. I will redo. Hopefully it will work out. Thanks thanks thanks Venus2211 (talk) 01:39, 11 May 2014 (UTC)Venus2211 P.S. Do you know if I can add the Getty images images? They ARE copyright and on actual red carpet where normally only media people can go.
To editor Venus2211: No, it will likely be deleted, I'm afraid. Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 01:57, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
To editor Anon126: Ok. Thanks Anon126. If I attempt to email Ms. Fontaines and ask to get approval from her website and she okays/provides me with an image? Would that likely work? I can always try if wikipedia accepts it. Venus2211 (talk) 02:02, 11 May 2014 (UTC)Venus2211
To editor Venus2211: It'll be tough. The copyright probably belongs to the photographer, who has only given permission for Fontaines to use the photo on her site. You need to get permission from the copyright owner, which seems pretty hard to track down based on what I found. Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 02:28, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
Adding to this: If you manage to find the copyright owner, they need to grant permission for anyone to use it for any purpose, even commercial ones. This is part of Wikipedia's basic principles: providing content that anyone can use. Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 02:44, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
To editor Anon126: Full of questions. Thanks for all of your help Anon126. Does this part currently on the page I am editing go away once I have corrected the necessary details or does someone re-visit and clear it at some point?

Venus2211 (talk) 02:09, 11 May 2014 (UTC)Venus2211

To editor Venus2211: (To make things clearer for other people, I've put your example in a box.) You can remove it yourself if you think the problems are solved, but make sure to explain why you think so the edit summary. The code that makes the notices is inside {{multiple issues|...}}. As you might guess, it contains messages for multiple issues. You can remove individual issues as they are solved by taking out specific {{...}} items. Keep in mind that other people could add them again if they think the problems are not yet solved, or if new problems come up. Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 02:28, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
To editor Anon126: You are good at this Anon126. I wish there was such a thing as a "brain app" so people could access all the information needed. Sort of like Matrix the movie. Thanks for boxing the example. Now I know how to do that. :) Ok. I will remove the references and hope my idea of solved is the same as other editors. Did you get the question about attempting to get permission and image from the official site of Ms Fontaines? I don't know if I can do that. In the case that I can, will Wikipedia likely accept that? Thanks thanks thanks Venus2211 (talk) 02:35, 11 May 2014 (UTC)Venus2211
To editor Venus2211: Yes, I've replied to the question about permission. (It starts with "I'll be tough".) Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 02:44, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
To editor Anon126: Now that's funny and it worked.Found it thanks thanks thanks . Will see how easy it is to get a/single photographer or many to okay a few photographs. Hopefully they have personal sites I can mail them on. If I manage that do I notify someone that I have received the right to use the image? thanks thanks thanksVenus2211 (talk) 02:57, 11 May 2014 (UTC)Venus2211
To editor Venus2211: Yes, there is a notification process:
  1. Before anything, make sure they understand what they are doing. Like I said earlier, this permission must allow anyone to use it for any purpose, even outside Wikipedia. (But they can require things like giving credit.)
  2. Once you're sure that they're willing to do this, upload it to Wikimedia Commons (Wikipedia's central site for free media). Fill out the information, and in the "Permission" box, put the code {{subst:OP}}.
  3. Ask the photographer to send an e-mail using a standard-form e-mail found here.
  4. After that, it will be reviewed, and the permissions will be noted in the image description.

Hi Anon126. @Anon126:  ::To editor Anon126:

Thanks thanks thanks for making that clear. I came to wikipedia today and found more issues. The page is up for review for deletion and a whole lot of the work I added was removed. I thought I'd addressed many of the needed criteria along with adding the dates requested (re the box you repsonded with that included the orphan page text) Feeling down about my page. Do you have any further pointers? I provided real and reputable magazines, works of MS. Fontaines and outside links verifying Ms. Fontaines attendance/participation at functions relating to the biography. I was feeling so proud of the article and it's development. I went to sleep happy that I'd done so much. I came back to the page very disappointed . It just needs the time and understanding on my part to make it work and to me the criteria seems more grey than black and white. The only option I have is to make a choice and edit the choice as the criteria is not that clear. Any suggestions ??? Thanks thanks thanks  :( Venus2211 (talk) 18:23, 11 May 2014 (UTC)Venus2211

To editor Venus2211: I noticed that it was up for deletion. About some of the content that was removed (or changed):
  • You removed the notices in this edit, but they were restored. Like I said, it's very important that you explain in the edit summary why you feel that the problems are solved. You did not leave any edit summary, so others can't trust that the problems are in fact solved. I have to honestly say that the problems aren't solved yet.
  • Excessive IMDb links are usually removed. IMDb is not considered a reliable source of information for Wikipedia.
  • For references, its better to link to articles rather than just photos; that's why they were removed.
  • Adding inline citations with footnotes (those little numbers[1]) will help a lot in preventing the article from being deleted.
    • I feel that you're still not clear on how to do this. To review: After a sentence or part of a sentence, add the <ref>...</ref> code. Inside (where the ... is), add the information about the specific source where you got that specific information. (Wikipedia can't rely on personal knowledge.) Here's an example:
She has worked in independent films, commercials, and music videos, and has produced and directed and worked with casting.<ref>[Who said this? Add the source information here.]</ref> In her spare time, Fontaines is involved in community groups, organizations and events relating to pet and animal rights,<ref>[Optional: If a source only supports part of a sentence, add the source info right after that part.]</ref> humanitarianism, abuse victims, environment and alternative health.<ref>[Another source here.]</ref>
After that, add this right above the "External links":
      == References ==
      {{reflist}}
You have seven days to make your case before the article is deleted. If you can't do that, it might be better to start from somewhere outside the "live" article space first. Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 19:56, 11 May 2014 (UTC)

Still having trouble and was re deleted before I had a chance to enter anything more.

Thanks for your help. Still having trouble. The page was deleted before I had a change to enter my edit and information. Now that I have entered some of it it's not appearing properly. I enetered the following with no luck. Can you help with this? What am I doing incorrectly that is making it not appear on the edit page? Do editors always re delete a submission before you've worked on it? Is there something I can do to keep that from happening. I am doing this on my free time and am having a hard time with it clearly. Thanks Thanks Venus2211 (talk) 03:34, 10 May 2014 (UTC)Venus2211

Hi, Venus2211. You need some special code at the end to make the references appear. I've added it, and you can get the exact code here. Even after that fix, there is still something else.
Citations are supposed to show that a piece of information is true. Take this sentence from your article: "She has worked the spectrum of the entertainment industry having produced, directed, casting film, song writing and singing." Which source shows that this is true? Place the <ref>...</ref> code for that source right after the sentence.
You've recreated the article in the "live" article space. I want to warn you that this means that it could be deleted again. If that happens, you should go to requests for undeletion again and ask for it to be restored as a userspace draft. That means it will be a subpage of your userpage, with a name like User:Venus2211/Anastasia S. Fontaines. This is outside the live article space, so it will not be deleted so quickly.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask them below. Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 04:12, 10 May 2014 (UTC)

talk Hi Anon126/ Thanks for the above response and tip! I have been under the weather so I am getting to this today. I have contacted the journalist who wrote the articles in both Marie Claire and Instyle on Ms. Fontaines one is a 2 page and the other a 3 page. Now where do I need to send/post the proof that those articles existed. They are not online. There have been photographs taken of the articles. Are there specific editors that that need those photographs proving the articles existed on Ms Fontaines solely? Thanks thanks thanks Venus2211 (talk) 06:54, 17 May 2014 (UTC)Venus2211

Hello again, Venus2211. You do not need to give anyone proof that the articles exist. Someone who wants to check an offline source should try to get it on his/her own. You can help, though, by including a relevant quotation from the source at the end of the reference inside the <ref>...</ref> tag (translated into English if necessary, but be sure to note the original language). Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 06:59, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi Anon126. @Anon126: Thanks. I was confused at the proof part as in other notes and on the deletion consideration page it refers to no "online" articles and there is no mention of the articles that were removed that are not online. I also am not clear on what would be considered relevant. What would you say wikipedia editors would specify as a relevant quotation? I want to do it right. Thanks thanks thanks Venus2211 (talk) 07:22, 17 May 2014 (UTC)Venus2211

Article

Dear Anon126,

Hope you're doing well over there!

It's me again.

I have made a number of editions in the article here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Sebastian_Springer

- I added more independent citations. - I also cited some other research papers that have discussed his work. - I added some new verifiable information.

Please take a look and let me know if the article is ready for creation or still needs some more changes.

On another note, I have requested changing my username from GlobalScientists150 to Sourcecode12.

Kind Regards, — Preceding unsigned comment added by GlobalScientists150 (talkcontribs) 17:00, 10 May 2014 (UTC)

Sourcecode12

Thanks for the heads up!

It seems that Sourcecode12 username is now working. I will avoid using Globalscientists150.

Waiting for your response regarding the article and if it requires further editing.

Best regards,

Thank you, Anon126, for the token of good humor! It is highly appreciated! Also, unfortunately, I failed to seek barnstars from the reward board. Can I please have some help? I think I am a great Wikipedian, but I need to be recognized! Please help me become a well known editor.

Tips for a page I am writing

Hi Anon,

I am currently writing a page about a local company near me https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Trustatrader.com however I keep getting declined with this message:

The proposed article is not suitable for Wikipedia. Because Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, articles on fictional subjects should cover their real-world context and contain sourced analysis, offering detail on a work's development, impact or historical significance—not just a summary of the plot. You may wish to add this content to an existing article. As anyone can edit Wikipedia, you are free to do so yourself

Do you have any tips or ideas in which I could write about to help get this article submitted?

Thank you for your time, it is really appreciated.

Hi WikiEditor,

Please let know if I can still submit article Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Kalahasti P Prasad for review for the purpose of new article creation. Thanks, Calahas Calahas (talk) 00:11, 25 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Calahas. Yes, you can still submit the article for review. Just click "Submit your draft when you are ready for it to be reviewed!" and save the page. (The notice of a review waiting will be at the end.) However, at this time, I do not believe it will be accepted. Wikipedia articles need references to independent, reliable sources of information to demonstrate notability, either through the general guideline or the guideline for academics. Lists of publications are not enough for this. Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 03:01, 25 May 2014 (UTC)
Hi Anon126, I have seen your reply to my question below from May 25. When I was asked for independent verification of notability in order to approve article, I stated that the person in the article is an Alexander Von Humboldt Research Fellow and that it itself is a signal of notability. There are fewer than 1000s of such scholars in the world in various fields. Being an Alexander Von Humboldt Research Fellow would be similar to being an IEEE Fellow and probably even more prestigious. I can provide citations for grant of fellowship for the stated person of interest. Additional references are in local and English language media references from Indian newspapers. Please let know if such a citation and local language references will suffice for approval. Please as well let know what changes need to be made in the article to suit Wikipedia's General Guidelines. Thanks, Calahas

Having trouble with sandbox draft page - can I remove the content?

Hi Anon126

I have 2 questions. I recently created my article & I'm working on editing the tone. I've made some edits because it was requested - do I wait for the editor to review and hopefully remove the tags? I also have the old content of the article in my sandbox space, but I'm afraid to delete it because I'm not sure if it might wipe out the content on my article space. I don't want the sandbox content up for Canadian Registered Safety Professional because I have the new info in the article. Please advise, because an editor stated that the sandbox is a draft namespace & I should either remove it to my userspace (what is that?) or remove the {{user sandbox}} template. Whenever I need to go to the article that I'm editing, I type the name Canadian Registered Safety Professional in the search box and edit it. Is this correct? Sorry for being the novice. Thanks in advance for your helpAdBCWi14 (talk) 23:51, 27 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi, AdBCWi14. Yes, you can delete the content in your sandbox; it will not affect the content of the article.
Did you get a message like this? This sandbox is in the Draft namespace. Either move this page into your userspace, or remove the {{User sandbox}} template.
If so, that means you created an article as a draft (the page title starts with Draft:), but you used the code {{user sandbox}} that is only for your sandbox. To fix this, use {{subst:AFC draft}} instead.
To edit your article, you should type in Canadian Registered Safety Professional; yes, that is correct.
No need to apologize; Wikipedia can be hard to navigate. Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 15:19, 28 May 2014 (UTC)
