Publications list[edit]

This list is a rough guide to which areas of science I know the most about, and thus may be able to help write or edit Wikipedia articles about. The papers are almost all of them on malacological subjects. One mollusk paper is archeological, and two are paleontological. There is also one about Lepidoptera, and a few botanical papers. A paper which was published in the arts and sciences journal Leonardo, is about one individual artist's work. Please note that from 1967 to 1973 I was known as Susan J. Bishop instead of Susan J. Hewitt.

An arts and sciences paper[edit]

Leonardo is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by the MIT Press, covering the application of contemporary science and technology to the arts and music:

A science humor piece[edit]

In 1991, I coauthored with my husband, humorist Ed Subitzky, a science humor piece based on modern physics. The piece was published in the Journal of Irreproducible Results, and it was subsequently quoted by both New Scientist and Atlantic Monthly. The entire piece ended up appearing on countless websites and was translated into several languages. Even now, more than 30 years later, it is still up on a few places online; for example it can still be found on the MIT website.

* On January 14th 2002, James Grimmelmann, Professor of Law at the University of Maryland, was commenting on someone who had plagiarized the "Product Warning Labels" piece. On his blog The Laboratorium he called our humorous article, "a piece of common Net folklore"
