The CBSE Fit India Quiz (FIQ) is a national level inter-school sports quiz competition organized by CBSE, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and Ministry of Education. It is a part of the Fit India Movement, started by India's current Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 29th August, 2019 (National Sports day of India).

Background[edit]

Fit India Quiz was launched in 2021 as a part of commemorating Azadi Ka Amrit Mohotsav, it was envisaged to propagate the message of Fit India among the school children and strengthen its presence in schools, a Fit India Quiz has been envisioned to involve school children across the country. Fit India Quiz is dedicated to the school students where students with interest in sports and fitness can participate and compete at state and national level.[1]

First Edition[edit]

In the first edition of Fit India Quiz, 36,299 students from 13,502 school participated and showcased their knowledge in fitness and sports. Fit India Quiz comprised of preliminary rounds, state level rounds and national rounds, thus making it one of the most comprehensive and flagship quiz programs on fitness and sports in the country. A total cash award of ₹3,25,00,000 was given away.

Format of NTA Round[edit]

The quiz under NTA round was of 30 minutes and will consist of 60 multiple choice questions (MCQ). Negative marking will be given for incorrect answers (Each correct answer carries 4 marks and for each wrong answer 1 mark will be deducted). 36,299 students from 13,502 school participated in this round and top 360 teams, all over the nation were chosen for the State Rounds. These 360 teams will get a certificate and a cash prize of ₹2,000.

Format of State rounds[edit]

The State rounds of Fit India Quiz were online and conducted on Zoom platform. A total of 360 teams participated in these rounds. State Quarter-finals were conducted for the states and union territories with higher qualification of teams. State Semi-finals and State Finals were conducted for all the states and union territories. 36 Winner team from the State Finals were invited to Mumbai, Maharashtra for the shoot of television national rounds. The 36 state champions team will get a total cash prize of ₹2,75,000 and a certificate. Episodes of state rounds are available on YouTube (Fit India Channel).

Format of National rounds[edit]

The National rounds of Fit India Quiz were televised rounds and their recordings were done at Star India Private Limited, Star House, Urmi Estate, Lower Parel West, Mumbai, Maharashtra. 36 state champion teams represented their states and union territories. The National rounds were divided into 4 rounds and they are as follow:-

Prelims[edit]

36 State champions teams were grouped in 4 teams per prelim. 9 prelims were conducted and a set of 5 questions were asked in each prelim. The 9 winner teams of these prelims participated in the physical round. 27 teams which didn't qualify will play in the quarter finals.

Physical round[edit]

9 selected team from the prelims will face each other in this round. This round did not have any oral question, it was to test the physical abilities of the team members. The top 4 teams which performed well directly moved to the semi finals, the 5 teams which did not qualify will play in the quarter finals.

Quarter Finals[edit]

Remaining 32 teams will play in this round. 32 teams will be grouped in 4 teams for each round. 8 quarter finals were conducted and Top 8 teams from 8 quarter-finals will move to the semi finals and the remaining 24 teams will get eliminated. There were 4 rounds in each quarter finals and they are:-

Round 1:- Fit Hai, Hit Hai[edit]

Physical round. A game will be played by each team and the team with most points will get a bonus question. Team placed at 1st position gets 30 points, Team placed at 2nd position gets 20 points, Team placed at 3rd position gets 10 points and team placed at 4th position gets 5 points. Team placed at the 1st position will get the bonus question worth 10 points.

Round 2:- My Hero, My Quizmaster[edit]

Questions to be asked by Sportspersons of India, each team will have 2 direct multiple choice, no negative questions, this round will be conducted clock-wise and then anti-clockwise. Teams will have 30 seconds to answer each question. 20 points for correct answer and 0 for wrong answer. Teams will have 2 lifelines with them, if they wont use it or one of them, then they can be used in the next round only. Lifelines are:-

  1. Trump Card:- Doubles the points of the question. (i.e., 40 points)
  2. Power Play:- Gives extra time (+15 seconds).
Round 3:- Connect the Dots[edit]

Each team will receive one audio or visual no negative question and according to that audio or video clip, they have to answer. Teams which have not used their lifeline can use in this round.

Round 4:- Buzz Kar Dost[edit]

A rapid fire round of 10 questions. Team which presses the buzzer first will get the chance to answer. +20 for correct answer and -10 for wrong answer.

Semi Finals[edit]

8 teams which qualified from the quarter finals and 4 teams which qualified directly from the prelims round will play in this round. Total 12 teams will be divided into 3 groups with 4 teams in each group. Teams which will win in their respective group + 1 team with the highest score after the top 3 will qualify for the Grand Finale and the remaining 4 teams will get eliminated. There were 4 rounds in each semi finals and they were same as the quarter finals:-

Round 1:- Fit Hai, Hit Hai[edit]

Grand Finale[edit]

4 teams which qualified from the semi finals will play against each other for the title of Fit India National Champion with a trophy, medals, certificates and a total cash prize of ₹27,50,000. The Runner up will get medals, certificate, total cash prize of ₹16,50,000 and the Second Runner up will get a total cash prize of ₹11,00,000 along with the medals and the certificates. There were 6 rounds in the finale and they are as follow:-

Round 1:- Fit Hai, Hit Hai[edit]

Physical round. A game will be played by each team and the team with most points will get a bonus question. Team placed at 1st position gets 30 points, Team placed at 2nd position gets 20 points, Team placed at 3rd position gets 10 points and team placed at 4th position gets 5 points. Round 2:- Bullseye[edit]

Each team will have 2 direct multiple choice, no negative questions, this round will be conducted clock-wise and then anti-clockwise. Teams will have 30 seconds to answer each question. 20 points for correct answer and 0 for wrong answer. Teams will have 2 lifelines with them, if they wont use it or one of them, then they can be used in this round and the next three round only. Lifelines are:-

  1. Trump Card:- Doubles the points of the question. (i.e., 40 points)
  2. Power Play:- Gives extra time (+15 seconds).
Round 3:- Who am I?[edit]

Direct no negative question to each team with 3 clues. If a team answers the question on the first clue, 50 points will be awarded, if a team answers the question on the second clue, 30 points will be awarded and if a team answers the question on the third clue, 20 points will be awarded. Lifelines can be used.

Round 4:- My Hero, My Quizmaster[edit]

Questions to be asked by Sportspersons of India, each team will have 2 direct multiple choice, no negative questions, this round will conducted clock-wise and then anti-clockwise. Teams will have 30 seconds to answer each question. 20 points for correct answer and 0 for wrong answer. If the teams have their lifelines with them, they can use it.

Round 5:- Connect the Dots[edit]

Each team will receive two no negative questions, one audio and one visual no negative question and according to that audio or video clip, they have to answer. Teams which have not used their lifeline can use in this round. Teams will have 30 seconds to answer each question. 20 points for correct answer and 0 for wrong answer.

Round 6:- Buzz Kar Dost[edit]

A rapid fire round of 10 questions. Team which presses the buzzer first will get the chance to answer. +20 for correct answer and -10 for wrong answer.
