North-south section-(W & SW of Las Vegas)[edit]

This section of the Great Basin Divide is bordered on the southwest in California by the Mojave National Preserve region. Southeast of the divide and the New York Mountains north divide triple point is the the Piute Wash watershed, and adjacent north the endorheic Eldorado Valley, (adjacent the Triple Point).

A separate region, with Lanfair Valley in its north, is a northwest watershed to the Piute Wash, the Sacramento Wash (California-Nevada). It is much discontinuous, with striated streambeds. At the Triple Point north of Lanfair Valley is part of the southeast headwaters to northwest-north trending Ivanpah Valley; other regions of Ivanpah Valley are drained from the south or southwest from associated mountain ranges of the Mojave National Preserve.

The Central Nevada Desert Basins subregion (USGS Huc 1606) is a contiguous set of 15 Great Basin watersheds that drain into Nevada. The perimeter drainage divide of the subregion includes a serpentine section of the Great Basin Divide near the Utah state line (triple point with Great Salt Lake & Lower Colorado-Lake Mead subregions) to the California state line (Piute Watershed).
