I registered as a Wikipedia contributor in Aug 2005. I haven't spent too much time adding/editing content, this far, but I like the idea of an open, user built and therefore inherently polycentric encyclopedia, very much. I live in Bangalore, India. The Indian Institute of World Culture (IIWC) is located at Number 6, Shri B.P. Wadia Road, Basavanagudi, Bangalore 560004, India.

The IIWC was formed in 1945, by the vision of B.P. Wadia and his close associates at its present location with Dr. L.S. Doraiswamy as its first Secretary. It is a non-sectarian,non-governmental, private voluntary body and its chief aim is to promote intercultural exchange and the idea of universal brotherhood without distinctions of any kind.

The IIWC maintains a library and reading room of over 40,000 volumes on a vast variety of subjects including many rare and currently inavailable material. There is also a very regular program of public lectures, seminars and concerts and the Institute has played host over the six decades of its existence to many eminent speakers and visitors. Prominent among them are Martin Luther King Jr., Julian Huxley, Arnold Toynbee, S. Radhakrishnan, C. Rajagopalachari, Salman Rushdie and many others.

Although Bangalore has grown many-fold in recent decades, the IIWC retains its niche, especially among older residents and the discerning, and is widely regarded as a center for culture, thought and exchange.
