June 2023[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm JML1148. I noticed that you recently removed content from Nicolas Dauphas without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Repeated removal of sourced text[edit]

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Nicolas Dauphas, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use the sandbox for that. Thank you. Regarding the above — Your edit summaries here and here indicate that you believe the material you removed was not sourced. In fact, there are several sources to indicate the subject of the article holds the Louis Block professorship. If you doubt the reliability of the sources, please open discussion on the talk page, here. Your view that the awards listed in the article are minor is just that: your view. The community may concur, but again, you should seek consensus for that view, before removing that sourced material again. AukusRuckus (talk) 16:31, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to blank out or remove portions of page content, templates, or other materials from Wikipedia without adequate explanation, as you did at Nicolas Dauphas, you may be blocked from editing. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 19:18, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Edit warring: Nicolas Dauphas[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Stop icon with clock
Anonymous users from this IP address have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for edit warring and violating the three-revert rule, as done at Nicolas Dauphas.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text at the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Favonian (talk) 13:12, 16 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Geardona. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Reika Yokochi, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Geardona (talk) 02:52, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Thanks for your feedback. Can you specify where I did not include a citation? You removed several blocks of text that had citations and it is not clear where I should add the citation. Thanks. 207.229.177.118 (talk) 03:07, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Removing statements[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm AukusRuckus.

I would greatly appreciate a discussion on a talk page, here, there, or at mine, before you revert me or delete the sourced material. Perhaps you're privy to something not visible to the rest of us?

Can you assist me in understanding why you believe there is "uncertainty on position" regarding Dauphas? It is clearly stated on the cited source, at UChicago:

"Nicolas Dauphas, Professor – Research Focus: Isotope geochemistry, cosmochemistry."

With thanks, AukusRuckus (talk) 08:25, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Removing tags[edit]

Additionly, you "removed a question" in this edit on Nicolas Dauphas, deleting a maintenance tag without addressing it:

{{citation needed|reason:Once appointed, how do you stop being a Block professor? Needs a cite to verify it is in the past; without, it's mere assertion. Can't cite something by its absence.}}

This was attached to the text "'was previously' [a Block professor]", which had only been added due to your insistence in 2023, without evidence, that Dauphas no longer held that named professorship. Your action of simply removing the whole statement is a continuation of your earlier WP:edit warring. If there is a source that explains that Dauphas no longer holds the Louis Block professorship, please add it. The absence of any current statement from the subject that he holds it is not sufficient on its own. The announcement regarding it is still on the UChicago website.

When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary ("removed a question" is not clear). Please see Help:Maintenance template removal for further information. AukusRuckus (talk) 08:25, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
